NHL:
Recently the NHL and the NHLPA have been in talks about making a new CBA. As of today, There has been no news only that if nothing is reached by February 16th 2005 the season will be officially cancelled. On February 14th 2005 the NHLPA offered the NHL a Salary Cap, Inwhich the NHL refused as it was too high. The proposed salary Cap exosted of a $52 Milliion Salary Cap where the NHL wants a $40 Million Cap.
AHL:
On February 14th 2005, it was the AHL AllStar game in Manchester New Hampshire. The day before it was the All Star Skills Competition where PlanetUSA Came out on top over Team Canada 17-13. Hamilton Bulldogs Player Tomas Plekanec won the Fastest Skater Competition that night. The night after was the GRAND show the AHL All Star Game itself. Team Canada took an early 4-0 lead into the second period, where PlanetUSA Came back to score a couple goals. By the end of regulation time it was a 4-4 tie. They went into a shootout where PlanetUSA went 3-3 on their Penalty Shots to defeat Canada 5-4. Canada went 0-3 on their Penalty Shots. Hamilton Bulldogs Tomas Plekanec took home the All Star MVP Honours.
OPJHL Jr.A Playoffs:
Yesterday it was Game three of the Best of seven between the Hamilton Red Wings and the Brampton Capitals. Early on Brampton took a 1-0 lead over Hamilton, But Hamilton came back to score 1 to tie it at 1-1. Brampton then scored one more before the period ended to make it 2-1 for them. By the end of the Second both teams were tied at 2. The Third period was a Gritty, Well Played period for both teams. But by the end Brampton stole one from Hamilton with a 4-2 win at the 'Dave'. Hamilton did outshoot Brampton in the game 45-23 but Brampton still came out on top. The Series now heads back to Brampton for Game 4, Hamilton Leads the Series 2-1 in this Best of Seven.
