Bedazzled is an update of 1967's comedy classic with Dudley Moore.
A shy, computer nerd named Elliot (Brendan Fraser) has been enfatuated with Allison (Frances O'Conner), with whom he works, for four years. Unfortunately she has never even noticed him.

All seems lost for him until the Devil (Elisabeth Hurley) drops in with an offer he can't refuse. Elliot trades his soul for seven wishes to try and reinvent himself. All doesn't go to plan and he ends up as a drug lord, basketball player, genius etc.

Each time he runs into problems, Elliot has to dial 666 on his red pager for the devil.

There are a few comedic moments but not enough to sustain your attention for long. The film completely falls apart by the end of the movie, offering no explanation for Elliot's character transformation. What seems ilke a good idea for a comedy seems to have been somewhat wasted.

Brendan Fraser does well with his various characters but is simply not enough to rescue the movie. Elisabeth Hurley came across as very one dimensional, and was not very 'Devil like'.
Ultimately, Bedazzled is a fun but easily forgetable film.

Cyber Rating: 2 out of 5
