The CVO School in Vryburg South Africa (a predominantly struggling farming community) is currently supported by the parents of 70 learners. Due to the small numebers, no government subsidy and the general state of the economy in this region, the school needs the help of sponsors with a willing heart to help us continue our good work.
WHY A NON GOVERNMENTAL SCHOOL? IS IT REALLY NECESSARY?????
Curriculum 2005 is being phased into government schools systematically, irrespective of serious objections and problems which are pointed out by responsible educationalists. Objections about
the lack of proper textbooks and especially the lack of necessary training by teachers, who have to implement the system, is ignored. Precisely the fact that the government is going on with the implementation of Curriculum 2005 in spite of objections and doubts, confirms the suspicion that it is all about an ideology and not
about educational principles. Ideology will never be prescribed by reason. Curriculum 2005 is just another instrument in the process of forcing down, what professor A.F.G. Raath has called, ideological pluralism. The Christian faith is continuously being run down as something with only relative value, he says. He sees the implication of this kind of education as destructive for Christian children.
Since the take-over by the current government in 1994, government policy has been focused on converting government schools into non-religious institutions, thereby supporting the concept of one world religion. Minority rights, such as Afrikaner nasionalism, have been consistently debased and religious Afrikaners had no option but to create an educational platform which could support and promote Christian, national values and norms.
The ANC government has announced that it is considering legislation whereby government subsidised education will only be compulsory up to grade 9. Parents will be responsible for further education. Should this law be promulgated, the face of education in S.A. will change dramatically... for the worse. In addition to this, academic standards in government schools are nose-diving at a alarming rate. Many government schools have also expressed serious concerns about the continuance of inter school sport activities, due to disruptive and uncontrollable behaviour of black learners.
SPONSORSHIPS NEEDED:
We still need a lot of money to cover our monthly overheads. Any sponsorsships for computers and other school equipment will also be appreciated. We also need to build our own school as we occupy a hired building, not exactly suitable for expansion. Any person willing to help can contact us for further information at jbekker@xsinet.co.za
