COSMOPOLITAN SOLO’S SOCIAL NETWORK DUBAI

Welcome! Put your feet up and relax, life has just got a bit easier and a whole lot friendlier.

The Social Network For solo Professional unattached like-minded people in Dubai

Introduction:
This group was a much thought about project for a great way to meet solo professional people in the United Arab Emirates without resorting to the bar scene, personals adds or other services. For Cosmopolitan Dubai unattached solo’s only! Find out about an exclusive group where you can socialize with like-minded solo professionals like yourself and build a long-term healthy social, business and good friendship, where you can share experiences. Please note that CSSN Dubai is not a profit- making group.

As most of us lead a fairly busy lives, the general tendency in Dubai, (unlike other countries), is for majority of the expatriate population to be married and have families here and so there are many solo’s out there, like me, who feel left out, avoided and have no chance to meet quality new friends of the same category because of work, time or social constraints besides finding it difficult to break into a social scene.

In Dubai, most expatriate's groups like us and clubs welcome people from any location, so do not hesitate if you are not originally from the country generally featured here - you may have just lived here for a while or traveled here or you just love to meet other expats because they are such interesting people!

Who we are: The Professional Solo Social Network of solo un attached people (Cosmopolitan Solo Social Network) is made up of young, mature active, civic-minded professionals who have a clear vision of enhancing the ability to network and socialize with other professionals living in The United Arab Emirates.

Our Mission: Our mission is to link professionals (who are un attached, new to the country and lonely not knowing who to contact) through social gatherings and business networks to meet like-minded professionals with whom you can build long-term social and business relationships and share experiences. In addition, it is in our best interest to prevent un-civic, one minded thinking people (looking for dates, wife or a one night stand) from immigrating to our group, which is not what our aim, mission and goal is about.

The Foundation: In the fall of 2003, Ms Natalie Summers with suggestions from her friend
Ms Marylyn Michelle recognized the need for active professional men and women to come together and socialize in the comfort of a safe, healthy and friendly environment. Knowing that an organization that promoted and advanced business networking, social networking, and philanthropic activities was very much in need, (C S S N) was incorporated in the spring of 2003

The Structure: a board of five members leads C S S N. Within the board, there is president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer.

Demographics of Participants:
Most events have 40% men and 60% women attending. People come from every walk of professional life. Most have a position with management level responsibilities, or are a business owner aged above 30. The age group ranges from the early 30's to the late 60's. The average age for an open all ages event is in the early 50's. Generally all ages are represented; however, we are doing our best to host specific events targeting the 40's and early 50's group in order to provide these individuals with a setting to meet other similar participants. Attendance will range between and 30 people for an after work social, 25 to 50 for a house party, 20 to 60 for a dance.

C S S N MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS:
Application forms for membership registration will available at request by email and please note that membership will be accepted from individuals who are able to fit into the group with like minded thinking and attitude, have a position with executive or management level responsibilities or are a business owner, and must be above the age of 30. Please provide additional data and attach Passport copy that should be considered for acceptance of your application.

Individuals interested in becoming members are invited to make an appointment to discuss their objectives, and goals and to learn more about how the program works.

2. The second is to agree to come for a small interview, that will be fixed to suite your time, so as to screen unwanted, and unethical elements from membership.

Our hosts/hostesses have asked C S S N to publish this information, as it is always prime party-time.

Activity Fees:
An event activity fund is often given as Dh: 30/- for our activity write-ups.

2. The second amount is the activity fund given by all other participants, a amount often referred to as the Guest Fund. Dh: 50/- against Food / Beverage

Contribution:

As you know, C S S N has some events at member’s homes where partygoers are asked to bring a special hors d'oeuvre, white wine or beer to share. We ask sometimes your help in bringing a food or beverage contribution for a number of reasons:
— To keep the price of the event down.
— Our hostess appreciates assistance in preparing and providing food and beverage items for the party.
— Participants have an opportunity to show off their culinary talents.
— It permits a more varied menu.
At house parties the Hostess provides non-alcoholic beverages, coffee, potato chips, pretzels, and / or other similar items.

Our Surveys
Conclusions and future work

We have presented a preliminary social network analysis of the CSSN online community. The online community in many respects appears to reflect the underlying community structure in Dubai. The size of the network allowed us to study phenomena such as the small world effect and the strength of weak ties, while the richness of the profiles allowed us to characterize social ties and identify what factors influence friendships.

Our analysis was able to detect many expected trends (e.g. English, liking to spend their free time reading or people sharing a narrow or unusual interest becoming friends) mostly within their own, Lebanese, Indian and European generally mix together being more fun loving people while at the same time finding non-obvious relationships (e.g. 'responsible' people being perceived as slightly less 'cool').

What makes C S S N special is that one is able to observe these patterns on a large scale with many different variables. The richness of this information can be used to model dynamics such as the spread of ideas on a network or the way that people can find each other through their contacts. The ranking data from C S S N can help us better understand reputation mechanisms now used by online retailers.

As the C S S N community evolves, there will be opportunity to study the changes in the network over time, as well as to analyze social dynamics such as the adoption of a new feature introduced at the Web site. Whereas tracking social networks over time by traditional methods such as telephone or live interviews is very expensive and time consuming, studying online communities is relatively effortless but may provide new and valuable insights.

Single parents share and provide resources, inform, introduce and help in the lives of other single parents.
The best experts on the subject of single parenting is a single parent who lives the single parent life, who has tried out the resources, and information.

Our Parents Social Network group CSPSN (a group within CSSN) is for solo-unattached parent at any stage of single parenting.

What is The Cosmopolitan Solo Social Parents Network?
I created the Solo Social Parents Network, and I'm a single parent.
This is a not-for-profit single parents social club and is the best and most unique place on the Web geared towards the single parent, at any stage in life of single parenting. Its purpose is to help create healthy relations, meet other single parents and to provide a safe place (if the kids are looking over your shoulder) for socializing.

This network is full of free services so you don't have to search everywhere for free quality service geared to single parents. We don't push books, pay services or drinks. We are just a social club just making a friendly group for single parents.

Our membership is simple and same as the above. Join in our discussion groups, Web Ring, personal ads, message board, our member chat or sign our guest book and bang! You’re a member.

How the Cosmopolitan Solo Social Parents Network Started
I’ve started this Solo Social Parent Network because I got tired of seeing single parents spending all the time just living. Going back to financial - work, doing 18 loads of wash, trying to stay active for the children's school, lives, interests, reorganizing the house for new bundle (twins), running the twins for their problems, fighting in court-against someone who didn't want to give a dime, high emotional needs and confusion from children. Well the list can go on, just as any single parents can... As you can guess, this left little time to find the much needed information and support for parents like that.

I didn't think I was so unique that I would be the only one in need of socializing, information, support and finding a prospective partner... Yep partner! Being a mom? Well... that was like looking for a pin in a haystack.

Divorce is more than a death of a marriage; it's a death of a life. Thereby, I started living and creating a new life and this idea of network has helped many others and me. Single parents and I believe it can help all solo parents.

Since most single parents are tight on money and on time, I have done my best to make our solo social parents network fast, simple and to the point, and above all free.
Look around enjoy, let us know you are here by coming to our members, chat, message board- really its a relief board- so just get it out, you'll feel better, promise!

OH! And don't forget to place a free personal ad just for single parents.

I have tried to upgrade the single parent community. It is more private.

The Photo Album Area is easier to use, and you can nominate and rate members and I will give them the spot light in our pages. (Our Website is soon to be hosted)

Many of these groups have general meetings and interest groups that encourage members to learn about their group, its culture, activities, lifestyle, and to develop friendships by sharing interests and hobbies with each other. Some of the different groups in the directory include British Business group, Dubai Caledonian Society. However, some newcomer’s just love to take the first step with fellow expatriates and we hope that these links will help you do that. I'm gonna run for now. Have fun meeting other single parents and don't forget to sign our guest book. I would love to hear from you.
