SOUTHEND CS CREW
A BLAST FROM THE PAST
Back in the 80's Southend had a firm that could really put on a show when the chance arouse. One such occasion was when Lincoln City payed us a visit. Southend started gathering at about 11o'clock in the Fishermans Arms and by midday a very tidy firm of about 100 were in attendance. A few spotters had done a tour but Lincoln were no where to be seen so we made a move for the ground at about 2 o'clock.
We took a firm of about 150 into the south bank but still there was a no show from the Transit Elite. Just before kick-off Lincoln made their appearance and things went mental. The OB were completlely taken by suprise and for 5 minutes it was toe to toe stuff before the law got in between us. They split us down the middle and started trying to herd the Southend lads down the terracing and back to north bank.
About 50 lads managed to stay put but we were well outnumbered. That was when a firm from Shoebury showed up and just steamed straight into the Lincoln lads. This lot were fucking nutters and gave the OB a pounding if they got in the way. We ran Lincoln right across the south bank and really got on top before the law set the dogs on us.
Some nasty bastard had smuggled in a bottle filled with sand and a Lincoln lad got it straight in the side of the head. He went down screaming like a stuffed pig with blood pissing out everywhere. The OB finally resored order and moved all the Southend out of the south bank and back to the north.
After the game, we made our way to the seafront and mobbed up in The Ship. Lincoln had some balls to show up again but they soon regretted it and took another beating, this time with a load of rockabillies joining in. The law finally run out of patience and belted a few of our lads then nicked them.
The day was over but we had come out on top and Lincoln had taken a serious hiding. Fair play to them, they came at us twice but the lads on show that day were in no mood to fuck about. It was in revenge for two birds getting a slapping off blokes back in 1969 at Lincoln and the payback was well and truly taken.
