the BFL was started in 1972 with an roster of 10 teams ( NFL )...and played every year and became a 24 team league ,until 1984 when it was made into a college league..the season was played with 6 guys that lived in Monroe Michigan...the roster of coaches would change from time to time until 1995 when it became a solitaire season until 2000 when the league had 4 coaches until 2004 when it became a solitaire game again....and the league founder Brian D. Wittkop sr left for northern Michigan in august of 2004
the league has 44 teams with hopes of expanding each year
