CAN I REALLY CHECK ON SOMEONE'S CREDIT HISTORY?
You can check out your current or prospective employees, tenants, customers etc.
You can have a check done if they trade in their own name or they are in partnership.
You can also check on the Directors of a Limited Company.
In order to do this your Application Form, or whatever form you use, must of course contain a clause allowing you to make searches using a Credit Reference Agency and be signed by the person upon whom the search is to be made.
COULDN'T I DO IT MYSELF?
Yes of course you could.
You could ask them to write to the main Credit Reference Agencies for the appropriate forms for completion and return enclosing the Statutory Fees.
When they have received the results you would request that they supply a copy or at least give you the opportunity to examine them.
This would take a week or two whereas you would probably need the information within days, hours or preferably minutes.
That system would of course appear most unprofessional, cause embarrassment for all parties and may be open to abuse by unscrupulous individuals.
WHAT INFORMATION WILL I GET?
You can expect to receive details of the following and more:
Whether or not they are on the Electoral Roll.
Address Verification by the Royal Mail Postcode Address File.
Bankruptcy or Insolvency actions.
County Court Judgments.
Any notice of Correction or Dispute.

1-4 reports, £30 each
5-9 reports £25 each
10 or more £20 each
No further discount.
N.B. Bulk discount is only allowable on Reports Requested at the same time.
