Comets Track Club
The Comets Track Club...
is a private, not-for– profit tax-exempt corporation and competitive track club consisting of male and female athletes aged 6 to 18. Based out of Maplewood-South Orange,NJ serving Essex County communities. The Club was created in the Fall of 1999 to provide a high-quality track –and-field program to the youth of the community. The program consists of two distinct seasons-Indoor: December through March; and Outdoor: April through August. Training is provided by 5 experienced volunteer coaches, of whom 3 are USA Track & Field (USATF) certified.
Our track program offers the young males and females of our community a challenging and fun outlet that helps channel their competitve spirit in a responsible manner. While our primary focus is track, we mentor our athletes through our coaching philosophies of emphasizing teamwork, personal Responsibility, respect for authority, setting and reaching goals, and academic achievement.
During the Indoor and Outdoor seasons, that begin in late November and end in August, our athletes (approximately 50+ boys and girls) will participate in Meets local to the New York-New Jersey– Pennsylvania Metropolitan area, as well as in prestigious Invitational Meets held in various parts of the country.
Examples of these Meets are the USATF Junior Olympics, The East Coast Invitational, The Metropolitan Athletic Congress (MAC) Championships, The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and the National Age Group (NAG). Our athletes compete against the best junior athletes from the country in many of these Meets, and with athletes from foreign countries in others.
