FROM THE WEST:
As most of you know, I will be moving on to the East this year. I will be doing so again as a "poor, blind, candidate," so to speak. My time as a Mason and as an officer of the lodge have quickly flown by and, now is the time for all good brothers to come to the aid of.... well you know that goes!
I am looking forward to serving in the position as Master of Columbia #98. I will do my best to represnt all of you as an upright man and a Mason. I will. However, not be able to do this without all the help I can get from all of you.!
I was reading a Masonic publication put out by the Masonic Information Center called, "It's about Time," and it addresses the past, present and future of Free Masonry. One facet of the Masonic Information Center's (MIC) work was to form a task force to evaluate past and present Lodges and how they relate or related to the communittees they were based in. One very interesting fact was that the questions posed was could not be answered with a "yes", or "no", or quick responce. They required some soul searching and evaluation. So I would ask all of you. What is the preception of you and your Lodge in your community? We are all not going to hold places or stations in the Lodge. The Masonic Journey is a private and personal one for you and me, as it should be, but the flip side is that it should be outward and visible work. We should use the same determination to bring our sence of fraternal brotherhood to the public as we do in preparing for our sacred rituals and meeting work. I think some of the people that live in the Village of Chatham don't even know that there is a Masonic Lodge here. Be proud to be a Mason. Let's spread the cement. See you on the level.
Bro. Robert W. Pratt, Sr. Warden
