The Meecham Family Website
Hi. Welcome to the Meecham family website. This branch of the Meecham family lives in the Highlands of Scotland.
The purpose of this website is to post news about us which will be of interest to other family members and friends.
****MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO MEECHAMS EVERYWHERE****
CURRENT NEWS........
Hannah is studying Politics and History at Dundee University and is in her final year. Life seems to be good.
Christopher is studying in Edinburgh for a Psychology degree. He seems to have loads of friends.
Melanie and Chris got married in August. Both are members of Perth Racecourse and it certainly lives up to its reputation as the friendliest racecourse in Scotland.
Sadly, our niece Christina died last year at the age of 13. A tragedy for the whole family but especially for her Mum, Beverley, and her big brother, Gareth.
INTERNATIONAL......
A big hello to the Meechams from around the world.
Maureen Meecham - Hello everyone, Another meecham has surfaced.I am Maureen Meecham originally from Gloucester, England but live in the US and Belize.I have an extensive Meecham history and Genealogy of the Meecham family who lived in Gloucestershire, Worcester area and London contact me if anyone is interested - monield@hotmail.com
Wayne Meecham - tex.meecham@bigpond.com - got in touch and said: My name is Wayne John Meecham and I live in Alice Springs (Australia). My father William John Meecham also lives in Alice Springs. He was born in Rosealie, Queensland in 1930. I have two brothers Stephen (deceased) and Mark who lives on a property near Bordertown in South Australia. I also have one sister Kathleen who lives in Brisbane, Queensland. I don't know two much about our family history.
Another Wayne - Wayne Thomas Meecham in Canada wmeecham8@cogeco.ca - has also been in touch. His Grandfather was Walter Meecham, born in England in 1881. He came to Canada to find work, and settled with his wife Ada in North Bay Ontario. There remains a big population of Meechams in North Bay. Walter had a brother who came to Canada around the same time. They did not like each other. Walter had 4 children. One died as an infant in England, the others were Reginald ( Wayne’s father), Wilfred, and Gladys. The family has spread out over the years.
Donna - wayne@walton2769.wanadoo.co.uk - got in touch and said: "Just decided to type in my maiden name to see what it came up with and was rather shocked to say the least. I know that the way our name is spelt is very uncommon so rather interested to see if we are related in any way?? My Father’s birth place is King standing, Birmingham England and my Grandfather was called Joseph and that’s as far as I know. Would love to hear from any other Meechams out there."
Samantha Meecham from California - itsmeecham@yahoo.com - got in touch a while ago, having come across this site. The funny thing is her brother's name is Chris, his daughter is Hannah and Samantha's mom is Marie.
Also Natasha Olah-Meecham from Australia - Natasha.Olah-Meecham@Accenture.com - has been in touch. Her maiden name is Natasha Meecham, is 34, she has a younger brother Wayne and her father is Clifford Meecham. Her Grandparents are Ronald Meecham and Rose (nee Sinclair), they are from London but now her grandfather resides in Australia (and her grandmother is deceased.
I don't know much about the family history but my Dad (Ron) tells me that there may well be a connection with all of you through my great grandfather. He had 21 sons and 5 daughters, of which my great grandfather was the youngest, and they all left home before Joseph Henry was married. In which case there is a strong possibility that one, or more, emigrated to Australia and elsewhere around the world. What we do know about the family is contained within the family tree (see link below).
