CLONING IS OUT OF THE CLOSET! IT'S HERE! NO LONGER IF OR MAYBE! NOW, THE DEBATE REALLY STARTS!
The recent cloning of a mammal has thrown the press and media in general into a frenzy. The long anticipated debate is now in high gear. Is it right? Should there be limits? Should there be standards?
People are entering the debate in large numbers. Unfortunately, most people appear to be responding in haste. With so little time to study the issues, people are responding in an impulsive fashion.
The International Cloning Society (ICS) has for some time been preparing for this moment....and for even greater moments yet to surface. At ICS, there's a certain feeling of satisfaction that the subject of cloning is now an open and debatable issue. The ICS has, of course, long ago taken its stand. The Director of the Society, Dr. A. D. Lafferty, has been anticipating this point of time for some time, and is now anxious to get on with the real issues.
"We have always held the belief that cloning was in the horizon, and that there would be perfectly acceptable....even desirable....reasons to clone humans," said Dr. Lafferty.
