Much has happened since the last modification of these pages was undertaken. Mrs. Gill passed away in April, resisting to the end any attempts from local investigators to gather information that would help put her abuser away. At the funeral many church members admitted they suspected "something was amiss" in the Gill's household but felt they should "mind their own business". Even the pastor and a few of the deacons commented that it "was not their business" to intervene in the situation. This strikes me as odd since I have always believed the church, particularly the leaders, have a moral duty to tend to their flock; to protect the meek from harm. Apparantly this is not the case within the Missionary Baptist Cult. At the funeral a shriveled old man, a deacon of the church, rose for comments and made accusations against family members who initiated the investigation of Hutchinson as well as the fining the Petition for Guardianship. This man and his wife, as well as their son, benefitted from the rip-off of the Gills. They used Rev. Gill's diminished capacity to coerce him to purchase a piano for their grown son. The wife of this "deacon" went to the Gills home (with her dear friend Lillian Reedy) as Mrs. Gill was lying on her death bed, after Mrs. Reedy had with no reasonable explanation changed the locks on the house so that Mr. Gill could not enter without her assistance, this all occured after she was removed as unofficial caretaker, stole a dozen or so boxes of clothing belonging to Mrs. Gill. And I thought vultures only circled the skies after their quarry was dead. The deacon's wife denies having the clothing in her possesion. Other items of sentimental value were removed and cannot be accounted for at this time. Mr. Gill still lives in the home yet he has been treated as an after-thought in all of this. Mrs. Reedy has continually shown contempt for all orders of the court.
When asked to appear to answer questions regarding Hutchinson, Ms. Reedy typically stonewalled, in fact she hired an attorney to represent her. She refuses to turn over documents that would be helpful in the investigation. Obviously she has great fear of being prosecuted, she has something to hide and she feels guilty. This did not stop her from attending the funeral and pretending to be a wonderful, loving and self-sacrifing person. It was a disgusting display of shallow and aberrant behavior.
Mr. Gill continues to be dunned for the nearly $185,000.00 in credit card debt amassed by Hutchinson through his use of Mr. Gill's name. he will most likely lose his home.
On the bright side, he does have a new guardian, a niece from his side of the family. Not only has he returned to his "pre-Hutchinson" fighting weight, looking quite robust, but his thinking seems to be clearer, and his memory has improved. The last straw for Mr. Gill was finding that Hutchisnon had stolen his suits and other articles of clothing. Hutchinson also cleaned out the house removing the washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator, etc. ad nauseum.
