CALIFORNIA HAWORTH'S

Welcome to California Haworth on the web. This site is a history site of the Haworth Family of California. The history so far goes back to 1841. We are still working on the history further back. In 1841 John Haworth and Catherine Haworth had a son named John Haworth. John Haworth was born in Haslingden, Lancashire, England. When young John Haworth was 22 years of age he married Mary Jane Entwistle on January 4th 1863. John was a land owner of 8 acres of farmland and a quarryman in Haslingden. You can see John was a hard worker and also a family man. John and Mary Jane had eleven Children. The first child born was Edward Haworth 1863. The second Son of the Haworth clan arrived into the world a year later 1864. His name was James Haworth. Nine Children were to follow. Richard Haworth 1865, John Haworth 1866, Catherine Haworth 1868, Ellen Haworth 1870, Margaret A. Haworth 1871, Amos Haworth 1875, Ada Hannah Haworth 1878, Elizabeth Haworth 1881, and the last but not least Entwistle Haworth 1883. When the Children became 13 years of age they would enter the work force as cottonweavers and cottonloomers. The Haworth dwelling in 1881 was Lower Ormerods. In 1891 the Haworth family lived on 46 Roe Greave Road, Oswaldtwistle. James Haworth was married to Jane on December 29, 1892 Saint Pauls, in Haslingden Lancashire. Both at the age of 36. Its is said that Janes fathers name was Richard Yates (yaets). According to the 1901 british census James Haworth was a general labourer, Jane (Yates) Haworth was a housewife. On the census listed a boarder in the Haworth home. His name was William Yates age 38. This boarder is possibly a brother or relative of Jane (Yates) Haworth, since he holds Janes maiden name of Yates. James Haworth and Family lived at 16 Broadfield, Oswaldtwistle in 1901.Amos Haworth was also married with a child. Amos married Nancy Clark, a distant cousin of the great explorer William Clark, of Lewis & Clark in the United States. According to the 1901 British census Amos Haworth and Family lived at 27 Walker Street, Oswaldtwistle. Amos and Nancy (Clark) Haworth had two children. The first was Richard Haworth born 1901 and John Haworth 1905. Richard was born in Haslingden, John in Oswaldtwistle England. According to the 1901 British census John and Mary Jane Haworth still lived in Haslingden England with five children out of the eleven born. Richard now age 35, John age 33, Margaret A. age 29, Ada age 23, Entwistle now age 18 all lived with John and Mary Jane Haworth in 1901. Ada Hannah Haworth also married later on to Dennis Preston.Dennis Preston and Ada (Haworth) Preston had three Daughters, Jennie, Mary and Elizabeth. In 1904 Mary Jane (Entwistle)Haworth would pass away on July 20, 1904. Buried Immanuel Church Lancashire,located in Oswaldtwistle. Ten years later on February 3, 1914 her husband John Haworth would also pass, buried at Immanuel Church,Oswaldtwistle. 1920 Amos and Nancy (Clark) Haworth with both children Richard and John lived in Nelson England. All would begin to look towards the United States for a new beginning.
JOURNEY TO THE NEW WORLD.
Amos and Richard Haworth arrived in the new world on July 20, 1920. Travelling on a ship used as a troop transport from world war I. Ships name was The Aquitania. Amos was 45 years of age and Richard was 20, when arriving at Ellis Island New York. They departed from Liverpool. That same year wife Nancy (Clark) Haworth and youngest son John Haworth would arrive in the United States arriving at a Boston Harbor on September 29,1920. On the ship Fort Victoria. Departing from Liverpool and arrival in Boston. According to the ships manifest the destination for John and his Mother was Holyoak Massachusetts. Im sure the point of two seperate journeys was to give Amos and Richard time to secure a job in the new world.One of the main reasons was to also give John Haworth an education in the United States. John Haworth as a child fell from a roof top which made him permanently deaf. Amos Haworth enrolled John at the Alexander Graham Bell School for the deaf in Massachusetts.According to the 1930 United States census Amos,Nancy,John Haworth lived in New Bedford,Bristol, Massachusetts. We dont know the whereabouts of Richard Haworth. While John Haworth was attending Alexander Graham Bell school he met his future wife Alice Mildred Smith. Amos Haworth and Family settle in Fallriver Mass. We dont have the dates of the passings of Amos & Nancy (Clark) Haworth, Richard Haworth.We do know that Amos Haworth & Nancy (Clark) Haworth died before 1939. James Haworth who was still living in Haslingden, Lacashire, England passed away April 11, 1935. Buried at Immanuel Church in Oswaldtwistle, with his father and mother. John Haworth Married Alice Mildred Smith in Fallriver Mass. They produced two Children Robin Lee Haworth November 15,1940, Roberta Haworth 1942. John Haworth Came to the United States and settled in Fallriver Mass, with Family. John Haworth would have to struggle in this time with both parents passed away, a new wife and now two children. That would not be his last journey into new territory.
CALIFORNIA MIGRATION.
John,Alice,Robin and Roberta Haworth would travel to California to seek a new life for the family. Travelling from Fallriver Massachusetts to California in a 1930s buick. The final stop was San Jose, California. John Haworth worked hard and built up wealth enough to buy a couple of homes and live in comfort. Sometime in 1963 Ada Hannah (Haworth) Preston passed away, and leaves two of her daughters. Ada was buried at Accrington Cemetery, England. The Rev.H Strawbridge officiated. Robin L. Haworth would marry in the 1960's to Carol Ann Perrier. Carol Perrier had one child with a previous marriage. Robin Haworth adopted this wonderful child. The childs name was Micheal Larner. Now Micheal Leo Haworth. On October 29, 1969 Carol Ann (Perrier) Haworth would give birth to Davidson Lee Haworth. Born in San Jose California. Robins sister Roberta Haworth would also Marry. Roberta Haworth married Richard Martinez II. This would be Roberta's second marriage. Roberta's first marriage was short lived. Roberta produced one child from the first marriage. The childs name was Rebbecca. Rebbecca passed away in 1961, nine months after her birth. The cause was crib death. Roberta Haworth in her second marriage had two children Richard and Donna Martinez. On October 28, 1977 John Haworth passed away. John was brave and hard working like his Father and Grandfather, even though he died pennyless thanks to his wife who spent all his hard work. Still John Haworth was loved by his children and grandchildren. John is buried in San Jose, California at Oakhill Cemetary. Some time in the 1970s Robin Haworth & Carol Ann (Perrier) Haworth would divorce. Leaving Robin to raise Micheal & Davidson Haworth as a single parent. Micheal and Davidson Haworth continued to be raised in San Jose California. Davidson in his early years was sowing his wild oates, while Micheal was employed by a local union. Davidson Lee Haworth and Kristy Lee Martinez had a child on June 13, 1989. Child Name was Theo Haworth. In 1991 while Davidson Haworth was a firefighter in Paradise California, Kristy Lee Martinez decided to go another way of life. Davidson Lee Haworth now became a single father to his son Theo Haworth. September 2, 1994 Alice Mildred (Smith) Haworth passed away in San Jose, California. On January 8, 1999 Davidson Lee Haworth had a second son. Xavier Haworth. Another child was also born on April 3, 2000, Trinity Haworth. The mother was Robin Mounts. In the year 2001 Davidson Lee Haworth, now Davidson Lee Clement Haworth ( Clement is the profession name taken by Davidson Lee Haworth) became a single father of three children. Theo, Xavier and Trinity Haworth.Davidson Lee Haworth is also a professed Third Order Franciscan. Professed on January 17, 2004. Micheal Leo Haworth and his significant other Tracy Hess also had two children. On August 8,2001 Micheal Haworth was born. In 2003 Hope Haworth was born. Davidson Lee Haworth and his son Theo Haworth visited the United Kingdom in 2006 and visited with the Ogden Family, cousins of the Haworths. Nancy (Clark) Haworths sister Ellen Clark had a daughter Hannah who married into the Ogden family. February 2007 Davidson Lee Clement Haworth visited his cousins the Burys who are related to the Ada Hannah (Haworth) Preston side of the family. Robin Lee Haworth and the rest of the family continue to live in California. Working for prosperity.
