Sister Beth's Class - 2A
"A loving heart is the beginning of all knowledge."
11/9/09-11/13/09
Religion: We will appreciate God's creation this week and recognize that God loves all of creation. We will look at the role the Bible plays in our faith and identify ways of caring for God's creation.
Reading: We will begin a new story this week called A LETTER TO AMY. The story is written by Ezra Jack Keats, a well known childrens' author. It's a great story about a little boy who invites Amy to his b-day party. Why is that so special? Amy is the only girl invited to the party. It's a great story about friendship.
We will learn about the sounds of oi, oy, ou and ow, be introduced to making inferences, and compound words.
Phonics: Continue to work with long a, i, u, and be introduced to long o.
Spelling: The spelling words will have ou, ow, oi, and oy in them this week. Please try to study a few words each night, so that your child doesn't have to cram the night before a test. The test will be on Friday.
English: Combine sentences, form plural nouns by adding es, learn about nouns that change their spelling in plural form. identify and capitalize proper nouns, and use pronouns correctly.
Math: We will learn how to read a pictograph, use logical reasoning to solve a problem, interpret data on a bar graph, and represent and compare data from a bar graph and tally chart. Sister Mary Therese comes to school to test the children on sets in 30 seconds or less every Monday. Just a brief note on the math sets. Everyone has successfully mastered the first four sets of math facts. Sister will begin testing the children on set five this week. Please refer to your chart as to how many sets must be completed by the end of 2nd quarter.
Science: We will learn how animals get food in various areas of the earth, what causes a food web to change, and how do plants and animals help one another?
Handwriting: Practice, trace, and write the letters, kK, and zZ,
write numerals from 1-10, do a manuscript review, and a postest manuscript review.
Peace and all Good!
Sister Beth
