CENTRAL ISLIP PARK/COMMUNITY CENTER UPDATE:
The Clayton Street Recreation Center has been almost totally renovated and will reopen for business soon. A new roof, new windows, doors and floors and a new paint job have made a wonderul change for the better.
The proposal for a large indoor sports complex south of Clayton is still in the works, with the Town of Islip and the developer finalizing legal details. The planned 100,000 square foot building will be used for soccer, basketball, baseball, lacross and football. Fees for Central Islip residents will be 50% less than for other clients. In addition, the developer will provide 1.2 million dollars towards the building of a new recreation center for Central Islip and yearly fees would go towards the operation and support of the Center.
Architectural plans for a new Community Center north of Clayton adjacent to the renovated Recreation Center are being developed. The Central Islip Civic Council is asking any residents who are interested in helping with our new park and community center effort to call Sandy Leach to find out how you can help; or to get more information. 348-0669 x 17
