The Reality

Parent's who have children with learning difficulties and/or special needs may become overwhelmed by the process of accessing services their children need and are entitled to through school districts by themselves.

The journey to obtaining these services can be physically and mentally exhausting. Often parents find themselves alone, surrounded by a team of "educational experts", and view their own participation and input as deficient.

Frequently parents are faced with making immediate decisions about their children's educational future without a full understanding of what options are available to them or what protections are afforded them under the law.

As a CHILD ADVOCATE I help parents level the playing field by providing them with the knowledge and strategies they need to become equal members of their child's educational team.

Some of the services I provide are:

-Assistance in determining qualifications for special education services under IDEA 2004 and 504.
-Networking with parent-favorable independent professionals.
-Direct Advocacy representation at PPT's 504 meetings, and school conferences.
-IEP and FTSP construction of goals, objectives accomodations, and modifications.
-Assistance with letter drafting.
-Follow-up.

I provide parent's with as much or as little assistance as they need.
