PICTURE: Hastings High School chess club and two teachers: Mr. Kay on the left and the great chess coach Mr. Bruce Hoy on the right. Students had just finished taking a serious written chess quiz/puzzle in preparation for their chess tournament which took place in April 2002.

PICTURE: With the enthusiasm generated by the 10 man simultaneous match, Kerr High School Chess team went on to win the Alief School District 2003 all secondary school chess tournament. Elisk High School and Hastings High school (1st pic above) also showed some promise while Holub was the champion among the middle schools. The 2004 chess tournament is coming soon.
