CHARLES CHURCH SUCKS!
Beware potential buyers of Charles Church homes..!
A host of problems with so-called quality builder Charles Church plc have left me disillusioned and furious. As a keen gardener, in December 2004 I bought a four bedroomed house in Norfolk with the biggest garden on the estate. In April this year local planners shocked me with the revelation that Charles Church had ignored the approved landscaping design and that half my garden had been designated amenity space for the grade II listed building next door. Now, my patio must be demolished and half my garden will effectively be out of bounds to me. Goodbye to the garden you see in the picture! Goodbye to my hopes of having a wonderful, big, garden.
Not only that, but the original landscaping approval which Charles Church conveniently forgot to either mention or comply with, means that my garden will now be divided by a hedge.
Charles Church failed to mention this when I bought the house. It also failed to draw to my attention the fact that normal planning rights had been withdrawn. So, goodbye shed, goodbye satellite dish...and this ruling also affects the other 39 properties on the estate. So many unhappy buyers...
My neighbours and I have also had to battle with Charles Church for aftercare - the number of snagging faults has been incredible. Some neighbours have had to have new flooring laid after flooded kitchens and bathrooms resulted from shoddy workmanship.
So, quality builder? Er...I don't think so!
If you're thinking about buying from Charles Church - THINK TWICE!
