Our debut Event features feasting and merrymaking under the midnight sun in Iceland. There will be dancing and a pot luck feast for lunch as well as games and merrymaking. It is our pleasure to announce the creators of the SAGA museum, Iceland's premiere recreation museum, will speak with us at their museum concering their experiences with period documentation and the challenges they met while creating a completely accurate Viking reneactment museum.

In case of early arrivals, Friday August 27 2004 will be a casual meet and greet. The event is being held Saturday August 28, 2004 commencing at 10:00am-5:00pm. Sunday will be available for a tour of the majestic southwest of Iceland.

NO SITE FEES! NO NON MEMBER SURCHARGE BUT ALL TOURIST EVENTS ARE PAY AS YOU GO

Sleeping arrangements are being made, there are numerous hotels, hostels and b&bs in the immediate area. The base is a seven minute drive from Reykjavik International Airport.

Site is wet. Alcohol can be purchased on site. Please have your reservation to us no later than August 20, 2004. We look forward to hosting you and welcoming you to the Land of Fire and Ice.
Please note, David Edge will not be in attendance. He sends his regrets; schedule conflicts and local fundraising inhibited his joining us this year. He looks forward to attending 2005’s Revel.

Good Gentles, here are some questions and answers about the Revel in the Midnight Sun, the debut event for the incipient shire of Klakavirki.

1. How far is it from the airport to site?
A short seven minute drive, if we know your arrival time we can pick you up, we have a Chevrolet Blazer 4x4 that seats 4 passengers & 1 driver.

2. Is the event anywhere near the Navy/ NATO base?
The event is being held ON the navy base. Tristan the Seneschal is US Navy. The event is being held in the community center in lower base housing. Therefore, all attendees need a passport and photo ID to get onto the base like all other US bases in Europe.

3. Can we stay on the Military Base?
Depending on numbers, Yes, you can. We have a pull out sofa, that sleeps 2 comfortably and a leather full size sofa. I am renting cots from the Housing office, so we can sleep max 8 people/ kids. Also, US DoD and military members may rent a room in the Navy Lodge here on base. For $69 USD you can get 2 double beds and a sofa. We would be willing to put the reservation in our names, but please contact me at mchughrebecca@hotmail.com if you are non-US Military and want a hotel room.

4. How much is the Icelandic Kroner rate in American Dollars?
Well, right now its 70 Kr = $1 so it’s BAD for Americans. However, I can grocery shop and we can eat on base, so that cuts costs by packing lunches and I can buy military tickets to the BLUE LAGOON for $15 USD, not 1200 KR. So, that helps. Everything in Iceland is TRULY expensive; food is the worst so pack a lunch always.

5. Which side of the road do you drive on?
Iceland drives on the right, like in America. The driver is on the left side, the passenger sits on the right.

6. And to clarify things, all the activities you have planned are for Saturday?
No. Friday is a visit to the world renowed Blue Lagoon, Saturday is event featuring guest speakers from the Viking museum with a tour of the museum in the late afternoon, and Sunday is the Medieval manuscript museum and rift. Sunday the manuscript museum is free.
