2000 Sightings.
January.East Yorkshire.
Sunday 9th, 12pm Steve, his sister-in-law and wife, driving by the now disused mental
hospital at Winestead in East Yorkshire. He saw in the adjacent fields a large black
cat-like animal. His wife at first thought it was a dog and chided him for being silly.
Steve reversed the car and the three of them went into the field to see, "that the animal
was most definitely a big cat." The animal turned to look at the people and walked
away seemingly unconcerned at their presence. Steve followed getting to within 20
yards before the cat entered a wooded area, Steve thought it unwise to go any further.
Described as 6 to 7 feet long, including the tail, its height as that of, "a fully grown
Newfoundland........face a sort of sooty colour."
Quite shocked at what they had seen, on reaching home they rang the police, who
arranged to meet Steve at the scene. They found tracks, (one central pad with four
satellites....no claw marks. 6 and a half inches) They also both heard a rather loud
scream, which as Steve said, "a tom cat would make."
Steve returned the next day to make casts, but heavy rain during the night had washed
the prints away.
East Yorkshire television are making a documentary of the sightings in the area and
will be featuring the above sighting.

Sunday 9th.
Two large cats seen in the Kirkella area of Hull. Two ladies driving along
Summergangs Way, when they saw a large black cat sat in the middle of the road.
They stopped, at that another large cat appeared from a garden, the first then stood up
and joined the second. Both described as a little smaller than a fully grown Alsation,
long in body apprx 3ft, with tails nigh on as long as the animals themselves......."a small
head pointed ears."
This sighting occurred at 16.00hrs in daylight. The rubbish bins in the area had not
been emptied for the last three weeks and the witnesses feel that the animals were
searching for food, and certainly unconcerned at being seen, and showing no fear at all
to humans. These animals disappeared into gardens..
The police were informed, in fact there have been a spate of sightings of large cat-like
animals in and around Kirkella during the previous week, and police are urging the
public to report all sightings to them.

A Big Cat sighted mysterious black feline creature on Eastfield Industrial Estate,
Scarborough. Les Braviner, 62, noticed a large animal forcing its way through a hole in
wire fencing surrounding D. H. Greaves on Cayton Low Road. He said: "It was much
larger than a normal cat, I would say perhaps even larger than a fox with a long body
and long tail. It was just sauntering along but I would be concerned for any domestic
pets in the area. I would think if it got cornered it could even attack a dog,". said Mr
Braviner.

A mysterious and powerful black animal is being blamed for sheep savaging. One lamb
died after being attacked at a farm in Denby Dale and another was seriously hurt. Both
had claw-marks that looked like large, feline paws. Several people are said to have
spotted a powerful black beast roaming around Denby Dale. Farmer Mr Richard Wood
had two lambs ripped apart and another is missing, presumed eaten. One witness, who
saw the animal try to pounce on bantam hens, said it was a large animal, with a head as
big as a human head. Mr Wood, of Perch House Farm, Denby Dale, said: "There have
been a lot of sightings, dating back to August. "One man said his dog came across the
big cat in some bushes. Another saw it go for bantams in his garden. "It's been spotted
at Bagden Hall, Scissett, around Skelmanthorpe cemetery and in High Hoyland."
