August
17th. Walkington:
Local wildlife expert Ernie Teal has been called in to identify strange prints recently
found. A local couple came across the tracks at their small-holding between
Walkington and Bluestone.
Ernie before viewing the prints said they would most likely belong to a roe-deer but on
inspection changed his mind and said: “It is all together different from a print of a fox,
and it is too big to be mink. It is most unusual and in my opinion it is a big cat.”
The prints measured around 3” inches long and show a space of 18” inches between
the animals front and rear legs.

18th Walkington:
Mr David Rose and his family while driving, turned into a slip-road near North Cave,
they had to swerve back onto the motorway, “to avoid a huge animal,” in the early
hours of the morning.
They said: “It was brown with a white underside, it had green eyes which shone in the
headlights.”
The animal was about the size of a Great Dane, and they thought at first that it was a
large dog, but its eyes and legs were cat-like. The nearest resemblance they could find
after consulting books was that of a puma.

20th, Barnsley:
The body of a dead mystery animal was found in Barnsley. “The creature appeared to
have the head and ears of a cat, the body of a dog and fearsome teeth and claws, and
about 3ft long.
Scientists, supposedly carried out tests on the ‘beast.’
