It's only natural that the husband and wife team, Caliche and Pao, would have their gallery in the famous French Quarter. Although they both hail from the distant hills of South America, their true inspiration is taken from the history, architecture, and the intangible "joie de vivre" of the New Orleanian culture.
Their work expresses the eccentric spirit of this beautiful city through their unique depictions of haunted houses, blues playing street lamps, and local historical sites. They incorporate vibrant colors and bold textures within these locally inspired motifs to create houses that seem to leap from their canvasses and begin to dance to the jazz music played by whimsical street lamps.
The effect is hallucinogenic as their twisted shapes and bold colors serve to create vibrant reflections of this mysterious old city. Through their canvasses, Caliche and Pao are able to express all of their sensitivity, creativity and passion for life.
