STUDENT OF THE MONTH!![]()
The recipient of STUDENT OF THE MONTH AWARD is a student who has shown dedication towards their martial arts training, great effort in learning their rank lessons and class skills, and tries their best in class and outside the dojo. The student always answers respectfully with "Ma'am" and "Sir", is enthusiastic and displays a positive attitude in the class. The student also demonstrates a "YES, I CAN!" attitude and whose actions are an inspiration to others inside and outside the dojo! The STUDENT OF THE MONTH will be awarded a ribbon, certificate, and medal of recognition, and will have the honor of wearing the STUDENT OF THE MONTH BELT! Privileges for the month include standing with the Sensei(s) for bowing in and out of class, being line leader, stretch leader, and choosing the class game when time allows at the end of class! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- January's award for Student of the Month has been earned by Charlie McGrath for his excellent display of focus and effort! Charlie attends each fo his rank classes and brings to them a determined mindset in learning his lessons each and every day! He keeps his eyes and ears focused on his instructor and doesn't let distractions keep him from learning whatever skill is being taught. Charlie shows great discipline in practicing new martial arts skills by going slowly with focus which allows him to learn the skill with great technique! Charlie always has a positive attitude and is kind and friendly to his clubmates and instructors. He shows great effort in becoming a strong martial artist by attending every class and having excellent manners and a positive attitude! At home and in school Charlie also tries his very hardest to be a positive and hardworking young man. He is well liked by all and lives the black belt ideals of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self discipline, and indomitable spirit and we are all so very happy for his accomplishments in and out of the dojo! Congrats to Charlie for earning January's Student of the Month!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- December's Student of the Month Award was presented to Caroline Hussey for her remarkable efforts in the dojo! Caroline joined our club and immediately demonstrated to everyone her disciplined focus, excellent effort, and kind and proper behavior to her teachers and peers. Due to her constant display of black belt ideals in the beginner’Ss class, her Sensei has allowed her to train in the older class with higher level students to make up classes missed due to her commitment to her dance recital. Caroline always has a smile on her face and is a wonderful role model of proper dojo behavior! Her mom and dad spoke of Caroline's indomitable spirit towards whatever goal she has taken on. Brother Michael is proud of how kind and giving Caroline is towards him and related how she has been supportive and caring when he was bullied in school. She also is there ready to help him with homework if Mom or Dad are busy! At school, Caroline's teacher used words such as honest, perseveres, patient, effort, dedicated and determined to describe her and her efforts. Caroline helps others in class, those with special needs, is respectful to teachers and staff kind to peers. We are all very happy for Caroline to receive this honor and wish her well on her journey to black belt! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For excellent demonstration of proper dojo manners, 110% effort, continuous self discipline, and teriffic focus and listening in class, Ashton has been proudly awarded November's Student of the Month! Ashton is a true pleasure to train in the art of Kempo as he consistently has displayed great focus and effort in the beginners class. He is an excellent role model for his classmates in his manners, behavior, and attention in learning his rank material. Ashton is always respectful to his teachers and doesn't allow distractions to keep him from his goal of developing the black belt ideals within himself. At home, Ashton is a kind, helpful son who can be counted on completing his chores without being asked. Mom and Dad report Ashton demonstrated focus and self-discipline each day be being willing to complete his homework and reading each day for at least twenty minutes. He is respectful around the house and uses his manners appropriately. Hei si always willing to lend a hand and will ask if he can help around the house. At school, Ashton is very thoughtful and listens carefully. He is enthusiastic about work and is willing to take part in all activities. He is hard working and get along well with his classmates. Ashton teacher reports he is a wonderful boy, well liked by his peers and a joy in have in her classroom! Great job Ashton on being the best Ashton you can be!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our first student of the month for our new season of training is proudly presented to Jason Metters! Jason has earned this honor by consistently demonstrating positive, respectful, and enthusiatic attitude in his training. While our dojo closed at the center for the summer and so many students spent their days on the beachs, Jason stayed dedicated to his martial arts and continued his training throughout the hot summer months. He worked hard in learning his rank material and working on his sparring skills. It was this effort that promoted him into the int/adv class where he has been a great addition to the class! Jason shows tremendous focus, effort, positive manners towards his training and to his fellow clubmates. Jason clearly demonstates the ideals of the black not only in the dojo but at school and in his home. Mom, Dad, and Grandparents report Jason is a wonderful big brother to his younger siblings, helpful and kind to his family! In school, Jason is a positive role model for his classmates, helpful and kind to others! His teacher reports that Jason is helping a classmate to not be a bully by showing him how to act towards others! We are so very pleased with the path that Jason is on in life and congratulate him on his accomplishments as he continues his journey towards Black Belt! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- An inspiration and excellent role model for his classmates, Ryan has once again earned the honor of Student of the Month! As a two time recipient of this honor, Ryan is awarded the Silver Medal for his positive attitude, strong spirit, and 110% perseverance and effort. As Ryan has taken on his student teaching responsibilities, he has consistently demonstrated patience, caring and respectful attitude towards those he is in charge of teaching. He is true to his word, keeping his obligations and commitments to his dojo by attending every scheduled teaching day, regardless of distractions from outside opportunities (playing with friends, video games, or other activities). Ryan is maturing into a fine young man, capable and demonstrating good, positive, and admirable choices in his life. True to his word, Ryan works hard at doing the very best he can in whatever he is faced with or commits himself to do. We are all so very proud of Ryan and know he is on the path to great things in life!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- April's Student of the Month Award was earned by Marcus Lefeged, an 8 year old student who has just earned the rank of Orange Belt! Marcus has consistently demonstrated the Black belt ideals of respect, modesty, integrity, and courtesy within and outside the dojo. Marcus always enters the training hall with a big smile and an positive attitude towards his martial arts training! He is warm, kind, and welcoming to all the students and is the first to comgratulate and clap for the accomplishments and efforts of others! He is helpful and willing to help his teacher with set up, clean up, and demonstrating or answering questions posed to the class during mat chats. Marcus takes his martial arts training very seriously and practices at home in order to be the very best he can be in the art of Kempo and it shows! Marcus' leadership qualities extend into his school life also where his teacher reports that in her second grade classroom Marcus is an exceptionally kind and caring classmate. He starts each day by greeting his teachers and classmates with an enthusiastic "hello". Marcus notices if someone doesn't have a snack, is sitting alone, or even if they look a little chilly. He will go out of his way to offer to share his food, sit and keep a classmate company, or even offer his coat to them. He puts forth great effort and pride in his work and this is reflected in the finished product! All of the teaching assistants, tutors and volunteers in his classroom have commented on Marcus's strong character and generous ways. At home, mom and dad report Marcus is always willing to help around the house. His manners towards his elders has been incredible. Marcus has alwasy been a caring person as a child, and they have seen him grow from a small boy into a little man. They are very proud of Marcus and always knew he had it in him!! Congratulations to Marcus, he has truly deserved the honor of Student of the Month! Audrey earned this honor by demonstrating focus and effort in her martial arts training. Audrey works hard on learning and memorizing her self defenses, kumite drills, and form in the dojo. Audrey brings a positive attitude and strength to each class and demonstrates a "tiger" spirit needed to become a black belt in kempo! Sensei has noticed how much of a positive leader Audrey is developing into in the dojo!! Audrey is strong in spirit which will keep bullies at a distance for sure! Sensei is very pleased at how Audrey always tries her best and never gives up. Audrey's teacher at school praises Audrey on her caring and helpful attitude towards her classmates and friends. Her teacher reports that Audrey is very serious about her studies and excels in subjects.She always volunteers to assist her with anthing that her teacher might need. Mom and Dad report that every day Audrey demonstrates how grown up she is becoming, Audrey is very helpful with chores, making dinner or helping her Dad with projects around the house. She is more focused on her homewrok and is very conscious of deadlines. Mom and Dad share that Audrey has learned to respect others, their privacy, property, and space, expecially her brothers. Audrey's karate experience has allowed her to become more disciplined by helpingher to embrace her strong spirit in a more positive setting, She uses her skills and principles learned in karate to be kinder and more sensitive to other people's feelings. Mom and Dad are so proud of the strong independent girl Audrey is becoming!!! We at Cape kempo couldn't agree more and are so happy watching Audrey travel the road to black belt!!!

Will participates in each opportunity that is given to the students in the way of training. He has committed to being a part of the club's tournament team, which will compete in the spring on a regional level. Will attends every tournament practice, working hard on learning his forms and in class focuses on his skills that will strengthen his martial arts. Sensei is very impressed with Will's focused attitude in class. When asked to demonstrate for the class, Will is always very eager to do so. An excellent example of great sportsmanship and team player, Will is always ready to congratulate and praise his club mates! Will is a true Black Belt in training!

Sofie demonstrates great patience, positive attitude, excellent manners, and a friendly disposition to her fellow club mates and instructors! She is definately a future leader in her community and we are all very proud of her and happy to have her in our kempo family!! Laura consistently can be counted on for being a great role model in proper behavior towards her instructor and fellow classmates. Sensei appreciates Laura's positive attitude towards her martial arts lessons, even when presented a skill, drill, or new experience that may be a little unnerving for Laura. Laura demonstrates great self control of her emotions, perserveres through her fears and succeeds with great gusto! Laura's positive thinking carries over in her daily life as reported by her school teacher! Ms. Andrea states that Laura shows up to school everyday with a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn. She is a friendly, kind member of her class who jumps at the chance to help a friend in need. Laura has shown leadership qualities from the first day of school! She is a delight in class and deserves this student of the month award! At home, Laura's pop is very honored to be her dad! Pop reports that Laura masters everything she trys and he is very proud of how she walks with her shoulders back and her head high so no one will knock her down or step on her. Laura's mom is very proud of her and loves to take Laura with her to work. Laura chats with their customers with confidence and respect and Mom is very proud of Laura recieving this honor!!

Kaydin has demonstrated excellent leadership skills in his karate class, demonstrating and leading his classmates in learning new techniques and kata! He works patiently with others in learning new skills and sets a great example of giving 110% effort! Kaydin is a well mannered and polite young man, always willing to help the Sensei and Sempai in class from setting up to cleaning up to demonstrating for the class! We are very proud of Kaydin and the path he is traveling on in life!! Kaydin's teacher at school tells us that Kaydin is a great role model also in class. She relates that Kaydin is kind to others, shows enthusiasm for classroom activities, follows the rules, shows respect for teachers and peers, is concerned about the feelings of others, is dependable and honest! AT home Kaydin continues to be the best he can be. His aunt reports he is a kind, smart, and thoughtful young man. His caring and compassion towards others is a large part of what makes him so special. He is a fantastic big brother to Logan, teaching and guiding him everyday! He is always helpful and understanding and makes people smile and laugh.His family are truly blessed to have him in their family and lives!

Not only does Ben come to class each week with a smile on his face, great energy and effort, and a positive attitude but he deomonstrates those wonderful traits at his school and at home! In the dojo, Ben has worked very hard on his focusing and self discipline of mind and body. He is a respectful and well mannered student who always is ready to lend a helping hand to others! Ben's teacher reports that he is an enthusiastic learner who enjoys school. He exhibits a positive outlook and attitude in the classroom. He shows initiative and looks for new ways to get involved. His teacher also says Ben is courteeous, respectful, and sets and exellent example for others.! At home, Mom says Ben is a very courageous boy. He is willing to speak up when he feels something is wrong. He is helpful, kind, caring. He is tolerant of others,(expecially his sister!), is curious and always wants to learn, as well as teach others when they can't do something! Ben faces everyday challenges with a little perseverance and a big quirky smile! Dad confirms how Ben lives his daily life as his teacher and Mom have reported. Dad tells us of Ben's positive and yes attitude! Ben is very well mannered and courteous to everyone he meets and is growing into a wonderful young man! Everyone is very proud of Ben and his accomplishment and loves him very much!!
