The Cancer Foundation for Children is a new Washington regional organization dedicated to improving the welfare and quality of care for children with cancer. Cancer, with its uniquely destructive force, remains the chief cause of death by disease for our young people under age 15. We need your help raising funds to directly benefit these children, their families, and those involved in the research and treatment of this most serious disease.

WHAT WE DO
While the Cancer Foundation for Children is a brand new regional organization, we urgently need your help to implement new services known to work in other regions of the country and world as well as support innovative projects yet to be explored. Some of these programs include:
Family Services: Professional and experienced lay counselors work with each family to assess their needs and determine the many ways in which the Cancer Foundation for Children can provide healing assistance. Support begins with a phone call or an email.
Financial Assistance: Caring for a sick child often leads to extraordinary expenses such as increased utility and phone bills, meals away from home, overnight stays near hospitals, additional clothing and “cosmetic” comforts not covered under insurance programs, etc. The Foundation helps absorb such expenses as well as provides for the special nutritional needs of young cancer patients that frequently become both time consuming and financially burdensome.
Special Delivery: Holidays can be especially difficult, the Foundation could deliver special seasonal holiday baskets and gifts that delight and bring moments of joy to these children and their families when they need it most. In addition, the Foundation could provide referrals to "back to school" shopping certificates in September, referrals to special summer camps for retreat, inspirational links to visiting artists during protracted hospital stays and recovery from therapeutic interventions throughout the year.
Support Groups, Welcome Wagon, Calling Circles: Give parents, patients, caretakers, and professionals an opportunity to share feelings, concerns, information, referrals, moral support, courage, and hope for the future with one another. A website with local meeting calendar and locations with maps and driving directions for those in need of ongoing support will be developed.
