CANASTA COALITION GUIDELINES

Introduction: I would like to let everyone know I am thrilled to be part of such a great group of people we have here in our club. I have revised some of our guidelines here and want everyone to be able to come to Weasal Way and just have a good time. I am very appreciative for everyone in our group being founders, hosts, co-hosts, and members. You all are very important to keep this club up and running and growing. My intentions in this guideline isn’t to be inferior but to inform everyone on how we can try and make this a fun place to come to. Please read:

I. Hosts- are very important to our entire club and come to host on a voluntary basis, please show the host some respect when playing in tourneys. The following are guidelines for the hosts to follow when hosting.

A. Please be in the lobby one hour prior to tourney time.
B. Advertise in our lobby for our tourneys about every five minutes. Example: PLEASE SIGN IN WITH ME FOR THE CANASTA COALITION TOURNEY
C. Take names for your tourney, for those who don’t have partners you may need to find a partner for them. Try and match them with another with a similar rating. Advise player that you will find them a partner.
D. When signing up teams try to match up ratings to make for games that are more fair.
E. Keep communication open with co-host, communication IS very important.
F. Try to end sign up times ten minutes prior to start on time.
G. Do roll call, have co-host do lines and keep track of who isn’t there. Example:
****ROLL CALL**** PLEASE SAY HERE WHEN YOU SEE YOUR NAME,,,AND REFRAIN FROM TALKING TILL FINISHED,,,THANK YOU
NAME/NAME
HERE
HERE
********************************************
H. Please check message board to stay up to date on banned players and what is happening within the club.
I. If there are any conflicts please notify a founder immediately. If a founder is unobtainable please try and handle the matter the best way possible. And advise founder as soon as possible. You may want to email or message them. Ask all members and players to ignore the conflict.
J. No hosts or co-hosts or players are allowed to kibitz a game whatsoever for any reason at all.
K. Wildcards are to only be played when you have three tables or at the end and you need to finish up evenly.
L. During tourneys ask tables if “everything is ok”? and if having wildcards ask that all stay. Keep track of losing scores for wildcard.
M. When tables are finished thank all for playing, and ask winners to stay.
N. When tourney has finished announce winners in lobby.
O. WELCOME ALL TO TOURNEY AND ANNOUNCE THAT YOU ARE HOSTING AND WHO IS CO-HOSTING.

II. Co-Hosts are also very important to our club. The following are rules to post during tourney and some guidelines to follow.

A. Please arrive in weasal way lobby 45 minutes prior to tourney.
B. Post rules in lobby when requested by host (rules will be included in this sub topic) Request someone do lines for you if you do not have a program for them.
C. Do lines for host during roll call and table assignments.
D. Sub if needed during tourney. (we request that the co-host be the first to sub and if other subs are needed the host can either do it or request that someone do it.)
E. Keep communication open with host. Communication IS essential.
F. Post winners on Club message board as well as calendar. (posting in calendar helps the Host for the TOC to find names quicker when hosting.) Be sure to mention both teams in final game of tourney.

WE WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME ALL PLAYERS AND THANK YOU ALL FOR PLAYING. GOOD LUCK.

III. Members are the reason we have tourneys, whether you’re a host, co-host or a founder you are all here for the same reason. So I have included some guidelines and extras for all of us to follow. The purpose of this is to help people be more at ease in the lobby and not have to worry anymore on whats allowed or not allowed. I didn’t know where to start with it so I will just go from top to bottom on my list.

A. No excessive lagging during tourney, not meaning yahoo lag. Lagging in excessively leaving the table and holding up games.
B. Hosts has final say in tourneys.
C. No players are allowed to play on non tourney tables in Weasal way when playing in our tourney. (If doing so and asked to leave other table and you don’t do so you may be asked to resign your position in the tourney.)
D. Please hold lobby chat down when host/co-host is doing roll call, rules, and table assignments.
E. Please do not use the message board as a place to vent harsh feelings towards other members. Try and settle amongst yourselves or bring it to a meeting. If need be ask a founder for assistance.
F. As far as meetings are concerned, feel free to speak as you wish, but please have respect for others if asked not to use language because of children possibly present.
G. Language: An issue that has not been well defined within our group. Basically it all boils down to what would not be allowed for a child to hear in school or what you do not want your child to inhibit. If you truely are still not sure what is considered foul language email me or message me and I will give you my personal dictionary. The following are example words that aren’t exactly considered foul language arse, chit, bugger, fluck, hell, muck, darn, dag, dang. As far as hugs and kisses and smooches they are welcomed as well as encouraged it shows the love in our group. Please feel free to love your fellow members without actually having sex . (LOL)
H. Some other issues that really haven’t been a problem with our group but to cover as much as possible. No racial or sexual comments for example: nigger, chink, fag, les, etc. Like I said this really hasn’t been an issue I just wanted to try and cover everything.
I. Harassment: is considered arguing, using verbal language, threats towards founders, hosts, co-hosts, members and players. And noted by more than one as becoming a burden or causing a drift during a tourney. (I ask that if anyone notes of anyone being harassed in the tourney whether it be in the lobby or on a table, notify the host immediately, secondly notify a founder even if the circumstances have been handled. Hosts must notify a founder either by email or Instant message so the founder has an idea of the occurrence.)
J. Scrollers: we ask that if we have anyone come into the lobby to antagonize any of our members or the club in general that not to argue with them , we don’t want to contribute to the anger of the scroller or nuissance, we have had success in the past by just ignoring them. For the benefit of our club and tourneys we just want to ignore them completely.
K. If any of the above has been violated the following is the consequence for the actions taken:
1-warning (being instant message, in the lobby, on the table in tourney.) Given by a founder. A host may ban from tourney.
2-3 day ban
3-Indefinite ban
L. Banning-Anyone that has been banned must be posted on the message board. A host can not ban a member permanently but can ban for remainder of tourney. If a problem occurs message IM/email founder and let founders handle. If the occurrence was totally unnecessary or uncalled for the host/ founders/ and persons involved will have a meeting to discuss the occurrence, and to come to an agreement. A host may ban a non member indefinitely if any rules have been broken, or the non member was completely out of control, or abandoned a game with no word.
Members requesting a ban be lifted: If a person/s have been banned from a tourney and feel that there was no just cause for them being banned, they meet with the founders along with the host to discuss the issue. If it is determined that there was no just cause for the host to ban from the tourney then the founders will deal with the host in private and decide from that point what actions should be taken. If a person feels they have been banned indefinitely without just cause, they may request a revote by the club a month after there ban took place to seek allowance back in tourneys and to the club. They must email or message the founder with there request to rejoin, and once the vote has been tallied that decision will be made final.

Conclusion: Thank you for being a member of this club. If there is any questions or comments about these guidelines please email me at justcallmesharebear@yahoo.com I want all to know, deep down in my heart I really want this club to succeed and for all of us to get along and have fun again. Put the past in the past and lets just move on and play the game we all enjoy. I know everyone shares the same feeling. I don’t want to come across as being inferior as I said in the beginning of this, but it has been requested many times to get something like this together so I put a lot of time and effort into getting this together for all of you. Now lets get these hosts back to hosting and start enjoying the game. Again I appreciate everything everyone has offered to this group lets hang in there.
