Dear Grace Prayer Ministry Fellows,
I am currently working on Prayer Bulletins for the Middle East, Italy, and the Philippines. I would like to request if you are in one these three areas please me updates prayer request and small personal biographies. I understand the hesitancy to promote ones self. I would like to appeal to your humility, as I know we all must challenge our pride on an on going basis. I appeal to this because I know that we need to get an understanding on how God is graciously working among us in these weak vessels. We are not in this work to magnify ourselves, we are here to bring to God the glory only. The letters I have received have both humbled my heart and encouraged my spirit. I have stated in a letter to a new found friend, among the many since we started this labor. That I have discovered how unorganized the Reformed and Sovereign Grace Baptist are as a movement, and yet there is a great organization that is unseen in that I see many standing in many different parts of the world. I think we can lift our heads up, not in self proclaimed arrogance, but in looking to the one who has and is working as the chief Shepherd. I would like to suggest that we be careful not to attempt to form major organization efforts, but rather allow out most holy Shepherd to perform His ministry as only He can in a sovereign way. So please put on your prayerful heart and allow us to know more about God's working in your life.

In this prayer Bulletin we will be looking at Mark Summers, who is in transit currently for the USA. He will traveling for a few months or so in the upper mid-west. If you live in this region please free to contact me and I will forward this on to him when I find out where is at any given time.

Mark has spent the last 14 years at HCJB and was married to Nancy in 1997. The Summers are full-time missionaries with HCJB World Radio in Quito,Ecuador. They are assigned to the APOYO department (Spanish - "help/assistance"), a discipleship teaching ministry created with the purpose of discipling, training and equipping Latin American church leaders. The APOYO motto is working side by side with the local church in the building up of Gods people.

Mark - ONE-TO-ONE DISCIPLER

- Presently personally discipling five people presently: Fabio, Jose and Alexandra (a couple who he baptized), Saul, Hector
- Teaching personal one-to-one discipleship in Pastors Workshops (Pastors Workshops is a cooperative leadership training project with sponsoring churches from the United States and elsewhere that provides necessary hands-on ministry tools, literature (a basic ministry library: Bible dictionary, Bible concordance, Bible atlas, Bible handbook and other ministry-related literature). An intensive four-day interactive
training program is presented covering major ministry-related subjects: the inductive Bible study method, church administration, biblical missions, biblical preaching, biblical one-to-one discipleship, biblical
counseling, and Christian education. The ministry focuses on the rural pastor who has not had the privilege of a formal seminary or Bible institute education and has limited financial resources. Since 1992, the APOYO team has cooperatively provided over 1,100 basic libraries for rural pastors in Ecuador, Cuba, Peru, and Chile.)
- Conducting discipleship conferences in local churches upon request, separate from APOYO
- Teaching responsibility in a weekly Sunday school class in El Inca Bible Church in Quito

Nancy – HOUSEWIFE

- Housekeeping and child care (at present)
- Assisting in the weekly prayer and Bible study cell group that the family conducts in their home
- Helping to organize an APOYO women's ministry with the other wives of APOYO

Mark was Born in Bluffton, Indiana and raised in a Christian family of five. At the age of five he received Christ Nancy was born in Quito, Ecuador and raised in a non-Christian home of six. She received Christ when she was 22 years old in Quito at the invitation of her aunt.

VI. SPECIAL FINANCIAL NEED
Mark was a bachelor until August 2, 1997 when he married Nancy Beatriz
who had a little girl eight years old. They, as a family of three, basically have been
living on the HCJB financial support-base of a single missionary since their marriage. With Nancy
presently expecting another child, the Summers family needs to raise $2,500 of monthly
support to continue with their disciplehip ministry with APOYO.

VII. SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

- Present educational circumstances for Carla Yadira requires more support to be raised so
that she can study in the Alliance Academy (U.S. educational system). This is around $2,900
annually (This amount is included in the $2,500 mentioned above that still needs to be raised).
- Addition of a new baby to the family, due April 26, 1998.

VIII. FUTURE GOALS
The Summers family is looking forward to what the Lord has in store for them.
As a couple, they plan to continue with their prayer and Bible study cell group in their home.
Mark is seeking the Lords direction as how to best organize and expand
both national and international discipleship conferences promoted by HCJB radio.
- Nancy is seeking the Lords direction, along with the other wives of the APOYO staff, as how to
best minister to pastors' wives. Pray for them. God is doing exciting things in Ecuador.
