Grace Prayer Bulletin 5

"A presentation of the Gilmores and their ministry to the Mediterranean Islands."
Jonathan Gilmore was born to British missionary parents, who since 1963 have been ministering in Italy as missionaries. Jonathan grew up mostly in Sicily. He acquired a double cultural upbringing anglo-Italian. During his adolescence, Jonathan recognized Jesus as Lord and Saviour of is life - confirming a spiritual walk begun during his early childhood. At the end of his school years, Jonathan almost immediately took on a great, yet challenging responsibility: the virtually complete responsibility of a local Christian Radio Station) at Messina, Sicily). After 5 years of various experiences in the radio ministry, he began to realize that the Lord was pushing him forth into a total involvement in an itinerant evangelistic ministry, with a great burden for the spiritual plight of the Mediterranean islands. In 1988 he was able to crown 14 years of waiting(!) and spend a period of various months on board the Doulos. In 1989 he married Annette Wheeler and since then, basing themselves near Messina, in Sicily, he is actively committed in various ways to meet the spiritual challenges of the "islands of the sea...".
Annette Wheeler was also born to British parents, who have been serving the Lord now for more than 40 years in the missionary field of France. Annette was born there and we could say that she practically took on completely a French identity. During her growth she had many experiences similar to those of many other missionaries’ children, experiencing only up to a certain point spiritual reality. The decisive moment in her spiritual walk came when she was 17 years old. At that moment, conscious of a spiritual void, she decided to recognize Jesus as Lord and Saviour of her life. When she completed her schooling, conscious by then of the Lord leading her, she attended a Bible Institute in the USA for two years. When she returned to France she enrolled in the University to study Italian. In fact, the Lord has given her a great love for the Italians- and a great desire to share the wonder of the Gospel with them. In 1985 she met Jonathan and since 1989 she is by his side in the ministry. Jonathan and Annette have three small children: Rossana (7), Alex (4) and Kristin(2)."
Goal:
General: To build up and assist national believers, and reach out to the lost.
Specific: To become effective catalysts for the Mediterranean areas. To see the establishing of short or long-term teams to minister in this region."

We are also currently attempting to precisely define our next visit to the UK. We are working on spending a prolonged time (between 6-9 months) there. The purpose of this visit will be varied – especially REST and RENEWED FELLOWSHIP with our UK friends. We will be available to visit churches and friends and as soon as we have definite dates for our visit we will contact those of you who might be interested in seeing us. At the moment we are trying to pin down suitable accommodations. We would value any useful suggestions and above all your prayers. (we are considering September ’98 onwards..)
You may see their web page for more information.
