Grace Prayer Ministry Bulletin #13
We would like to offer those having missions/bible conferences at their churches to send us notice of it and we will include information on it in some of our Prayer Bulletins.
We have received the following from Jim Hufstetler from Grand Rapids Michigan. I will let Jim express his desires and needs to you in his own words.
-Rob
Dear Friends in Christ,
As many already know, our family is going to be commissioned soon to move to Santiago, Dominican Republic, August 18 to begin on-going work as missionaries. Our primary goal is for Jim to be involved in pastoral training for the Spanish-speaking world in that area. We have labored here in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with the Reformed Baptist Church for 27 years. Jim will be spending the first two years in intensive language study; three of our six children will be moving with us and attend Santiago Christian School; the three older children will either be in college, graduate school, or newly employed as recent college graduates in the States; and Elaine will be working with the obvious tasks of caring for the home and children as well as being of assistance to the people in the church and community. In addition to this we all hope to be working with the development of an existing Christian school, perhaps establishing an orphanage, and creating other ministry areas which are crucial to the work of the gospel and good of the
Dominican people.
We are very excited about the tremendous opportunities before us. Many of you have expressed your desires to learn more and be a part of this work. There are so many needs, and we would be delighted to send via e-mail more details of our vision. We are very aware that many are already giving their prayer and financial support to other groups and simply “have their plates loaded”. However, if you would like to learn more or be a part, please contact us at our e-mail or postal address at the following:

P.S. We are presently working on airline tickets. If any of you have any leads on inexpensive fares, have tickets to sell at discounted rates, etc. please let us know as there will be a number of trips back and forth for Jim during the year. Also, Elaine and the children are planning to return to Grand Rapids for a period of time next summer and hopefully at Christmas if the fares are affordable. We have been involved many years in the Grand Rapids Youth Retreat in planning, providing housing, etc. and would like to continue that each Christmas as we plan to keep our house and will have that available for hospitality.
Thank you for all your help. Also, if you have any leads on inexpensive ways to ship books, supplies, office equipment, and smaller household goods, please notify us. Thank you so much.
I received this from Melvin Jervis from South Wales in the UK:
Thank you for your Email. It is good to know that there are those who are
contending for the faith in these terrible days of apostasy. I am the Pastor
of an independent Reformed Evangelical Baptist Church in a village on the
border of Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales. In 1995 I commenced a campaign for
the Return to the Old Paths- to the Authorized Version of the Bible and prayer
for revival and Bible Rallies which was intended to be a local campaign, but
God had other plans and it is now worldwide. I would like very much to keep
in touch with you and will be praying for your work. I will put a copy of our
latest Magazine in the post for you to have some idea of what our aims are.
Please put me on your mailing list. I am traveling 600 miles next week to
Scotland to conduct a series of meeting there in a the little Harbour Mission
Church, which is about ten miles from Lands End- John o' Groats. Will be glad
of your prayers for these five meetings.
As a Church we have been involved in Church Planting and we hope by Gods' help
to constitute a new Church in a small village ten miles from our Home Church
in the next few weeks.
Things are very bad here in Wales our average congregations are now as low as
25.
We need a mighty outpouring of Gods Holy Spirit to make us alive to the need of
our day.
On this note we are building a stronger list from the UK, please pray as we have sent 51 letters to the UK this week hoping to make contact with as many “Grace” (Reformed) Baptist as possible. We have had responses, so may God open doors to this land. We would like to be able to encourage and lift up before the throne of Grace as many as possible.
Thanks,
Rob Gerard
