Grace Prayer Bulletin # 11

Grace Prayer Bulletin #11
Brian and Necy Ellis
Cubao, Philippines

The following Bulletin is from the Philippines. It Concerns Brian and Necy Ellis, who are serving in Cubao (pronounced Ku-bow, according to a Filipino I spoke to on the phone in a business dealing. This comes from a recent request for information. Brian and Neci are currently in the USA visiting a number of churches. I find encouraging that in His letter he mentions that since 1979 30 churches have begun or become Reformed Baptist. God is truly working, how that should humble our hearts.

The update is as follows and is edited only for your time sake:

I am one of the two pastors of CUBAO REFORMED BAPTIST CHURCH which was established in 1979. We were the first Reformed Baptist Church in the Philippines of which there are probably about 30 churches now holding the 1689 Baptist Confession. The churches have come into existence in different ways in the mercy of God, often literature playing a part. My fellow elder is Ramon Macapagal.

Our own church is involved in a number of ministries namely the following:

GRACE MINISTERIAL ACADEMY
Grace Ministerial Academy only began as a full time program in 1976 and has just finished its second year. We had 24 men, nearly all pastors enrolled in the program. The new school year begins June 16 and we are expecting more enrollees. Pastor Noel Espinosa of one of the other Reformed Baptist Churches is the principal of the school spending most of his week with the Academy program. His own church has released him for this work. The current faculty are Joey Sarmiento from Sampaloc in Manila and Gilbert McAdam - who joined the work last November coming from Scotland. Noel Espinosa and myself make up the teaching team. Others have helped in the past.

CHRISTIAN COMPASSION MINISTRY -
Working among street children with 10 full time staff - mainly supported with overseas money. We now have two residential Homes for girls each with three house mothers and are currently caring for 23 children, some being fostered out to church members. We are also supporting 123 children in school who would otherwise be on the streets. They live with their own families.

CHURCH LIBRARY
This is now the library of the GMA but it is open to the general public and has over 4,000 books. Our church caretaker also acts as librarian - she is fully supported by the church as is my fellow Filipino pastor.

Although not directly under the church but closely linked with it is the work of EVANGELICAL OUTREACH, INC. This is a wholesale distribution organization, importing and distributing Christian books and bibles throughout the Philippines. We are one of the two main distributors. There are currently 7 full time employees in this work which is self supporting. In relation to that we have the SOVEREIGN GRACE TAPE LIBRARY of nearly 5,000 tapes which are available for free loan to any one who desires. Again in speaking of this work, we do not wish in any way to exalt man but to praise our God who has done marvellous things.

Ps 145:8-9 The LORD is gracious and merciful; slow to anger and great in lovingkindness. The LORD is good to all, and His mercies are over all His works. (NAS)

As for myself, I have been in the Philippines for 32 years originally coming from the UK. My wife is a Filipina and our home is in the Philippines. We are supported by our home church in the UK - Wattisham Strict and Particular Baptist Church.

We hope this may be of some use.
The Lord bless you.
