“We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.” Colossians 1:28-29.

The Past
We praise God for His constant faithfulness in meeting all of our needs.
This past year has been a difficult one, but a year in which we have seen much fruit. Since reaching India in late 1995 we have been heavily involved in and with my wife's family's ministry. They have a church, Bible college and a children's home. I have been the pastor of the Sunday evening English service at the church in New Delhi. My wife and I have both taught in the Bible college and in 1996 I started a seminary on the Bible college campus in the state of Haryana. During our stay there, God also provided opportunities for me to preach in a tent meeting in a village named Rewari near the border of Rajastan and in various indigenous churches. We have been privileged to see our God draw people out of the darkness of this world and transfer them into his marvelous light.
The seminary has been particularly rewarding for me. God graciously allowed us to have some gifted and godly men come and teach in our seminary this past year. Among them were Pastor Andy Hamilton from Grace Reformed Baptist Church, Lousiana and Pastor Dave Merck of The Reformed Baptist Church of Grand Rapids. I have had the chance for the last two years to really build my heart and life into 14 students. They have been such an encouragement to me to see what God can do through us in the land of India.
The Present
On April 9th, 1998 we returned to the United States. Having been involved in an educational ministry focused on leadership training and development of the nationals it has become evident that to have this kind of ministry in India one must have a Ph.D. degree. India is a country that desperately needs the kind of training that we have been seeking to provide through the seminary, but in order to have credibility and a deeper impact it has become an absolute necessity that I obtain this degree. In God's providence I was accepted at Trinity Theological Seminary & Liverpool University to pursue my Ph.D. This will require approximately one year of course work and then another year for research and writing of my dissertation. We will be living in the USA for one year while I complete my course work.
The Future
While we are here SAGA continues to be involved in ministry in India. We are currently sponsoring two students/translators and one translator/children's worker. Please pray for them. Their names are Uriya Pani, Hre Mang, and Sunita K.C. Uriya is going into his second year at the seminary and translating J. C. Ryle's HOLINESS into the Oriya language. Hre Mang is going into his third year in the seminary and translating the same book into the Chin language of Burma. Sunita is working among children and youth in Nagaland and translating the same book into Nepali (language of the country of Nepal) and Hindi. Please pray that we can meet all their expenses. Living in America is much more expensive than living in India so please pray that God will continue to meet our needs and for the health of my wife Jemima and our children Darshini (2 yrs. daughter) and Andrew (4 months, son).
When we left India we were informed that the seminary under new leadership will now become "Charismatic." For this reason, we made the painful decision that when we return to India next year we will not be able to rejoin the work we were involved with before.
Many of my students have expressed a desire to wait until we return and start another seminary to continue their studies. In India there is a desperate need for a seminary that is strong on Biblical truth, scholarly and sincere about the application of this truth to daily life. Our investigation as well as reports from Indians from around the country tell us that no such school currently exists.
In a country of about 970 million people there is not one school that is training people in the uncompromising truth of God's Word. This need is too great to overlook and we pray that God will enable us to play a part. When we return we will have to start from the ground up. This will require a lot of work and financial support. It is our prayer that before we go back next year that God may use you and others to meet this need and make this desperately needed ministry a reality. 3 John 9 says "Therefore we ought to support such people so that we may become co-workers with the truth." You might not be able to come and work in India, but you can be co-workers with us through your support. As we go as pioneers, along with the seminary we will also be planting a church to reach out to the community around us. We hope to return to the Western part of India, to an area near Bombay. This area is predominantly Hindu with a percentage of Parsees (Indians of Persian descent) of the Zoroastrian faith.
We also hope to start a ministry to children. One of the tragedies of the big city is the numerous destitute, street and slum children. We hope to work not only for their uplift but primarily for the salvation of their souls. We hope in time to start a school and a housing facility for children.
Another aspect of our ministry and one that has already started is a publishing ministry.
We hope to provide materials and resources that are sound in doctrine to pastors and field workers at minimal costs or free. This is a great need in this land to distribute resources in the native languages. Translation in four languages are currently under way. Like the description of the churches of Macedonia in 2 Corinthians 8:4 were "begging us earnestly for the privilege of sharing in the ministry to the saints." you too have the privilege to meet a desperate need in a dark country.
HOW CAN YOU BE INVOLVED?
Certainly the task ahead is big so please:
1. Pray for each of SAGA's ministries -- church planting, seminary, library, student sponsorship, children's ministry and publishing.
2. Support SAGA financially regularly or when you can. We need to have financial resources built up to begin immediately upon our return.
3. Donate books and literature for the seminary library.
4. Share our vision and needs with others of like convictions(i.e. doctrines of grace) and those interested in being involved with the body of Christ in India.
NOTE: This task and the needs to accomplish it seem very difficult, overwhelming and impossible. But, God's word reminds us that what seems impossible to man, is possible with God, because for God all things are possible. (Mark 10:27)
