Welcome to BuddhaStrike.com!

My name is David Sean Bunch - also called "Buddha".

I have been training in the martial arts for more than twenty years.

I was awarded a 4th degree black belt in an eclectic form of Jujutsu, and I'm currently training in a Filipino knife and stick fighting system.

Other than being a martial arts instructor, I have been a security specialist providing executive protection for celebrities such as Madonna, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, and Ice T just to name a few.

I've trained in several martial arts. I enjoyed my training and respect all of the sytems that I studied. However, the eclectic form of Jujutsu that I train in takes the individual into account. The techniques taught are customized to the practitioner (e.g. body-type, physical abilities, etc.) - not the other way around. This is due to the fact that the focus is on understanding physical concepts (e.g. levers and centrifugal force). When you understand physical principles, the techniques will come.

This is something that can be practiced for the rest of your life as it is not dependent on speed and strength. Also, we have special training drills that help develop our sensitivity and to defend ourselves against multiple opponents simultaneously.

Also, Filipino knife and stick fighting systems are excellent combat art as it teaches the student how to properly use and defend against bladed weapons.

Let me be clear about something. Filipino knife and stick fighting practioners are law-abiding citizens and do not advocate slicing people up. However, in today's world - especially if you're into executive protection and/or security, you'd better know how to use and defend against bladed weapons.

I appreciate tradition, so I was attracted to look into Goju Karate. Goju Karate is unique among most other systems of Karate because it has a lot of circular movements, and uses "hard" (i.e. linear - go in Japanese) as well as "soft" (i.e. circular - ju in Japanese).

As a security specialist, I have to quell situations as quickly and as discretely as possible. A lot of violent confrontations can be avoided if you remain aware of your surroundings and check your ego. By checking your ego, I mean that you should swallow your pride and walk away when possible. Acting level-headed and calm, also causes your attacker to drop his or her guard and allow you a better opportunity to launch a preemptive strike - mentally or physically.
