World clas surfboard shaper,Bob Ricard,was designated a journeyman in1977 by Richard Brewer. He has continued refining surfboards in the Hawaiian Islands for the past thrity years.
Bob moved to Kauai in 1973,"Back then surfing was a soulfull trip!,out at Hanalei Bay" .Some local surfer,s rideing for R.B. at the time, Glen K. said "here try this out at the Bay" after that I was beliver ,of the Majic surfboard.
Back then it was well known that ,the majic of Brewer,s surfboards.Bob was teamed up with a deicated crew,Adam 12, Rick The 'Tick", Fish ,nand 'Fugi',Mike Hickman .We had all surfed Purto Rico a few winter,s and were ready for some real hawaiian waves, We holed up behine Ching,s store.
After surfing some great waves ,the crew moved to the north shore,surfing the best days for many years including many 20'+ days,riding BREWER,S ,Owl Chapman,and Sam Hawk,s.When we surfed back then Itwas "make it count,it was a long swim in from Sunset Beach,it was great. It was this one 30'day at Waiemea Bay that I rode a 30'wave and changed my life,Dr.Rick Grigg was out, Fish ,K.B.,Mike Miller,Bobby,and C.Aukau.Nov.1974.
Bob began to shape Surfboards in High school,but it was untill he started shaping with Owl Chapman did he become educated about the whole prosess and funimentalle thery of "Hydro projection".After about a year, Owl hooked me up with Richard ,for some shaping lessons ,after which I countued shaping with him on the North Shore,and shaped for Dick Brewer,for the next Three years, also shaping For Country Surfboards and once shaped Shawn Thompson and many hot Florida surfers,Dick Catri,Mike Tabling,Jeff Crawford,Buddy Pelletier,Pat Mullherner,and other hot surfers,and you could be one .
