Nis-Kun-Ni Summer Camp for boys

Nis-Kun-Ni summer camp for boys ages 10 thru 16. Learn about and experience 2 weeks in the "Land of the Midnight Sun". Camp Nis-Kun-Ni is located approximately 80 miles from Anchorage, Alaska, in the midst of the Matanuska-Susitina Valley. Our Camp property consists of over 20 acres of woods, lake, and open area. We have completely modern cabins for 30 young men at our facility. Our goal at Camp Nis-Kun-Ni, is to see that each and every young man not only has a GREAT time while here, but leaves us with the knowledge that he has learned something worthwhile, and that he has been able to experience not only another way of life, but another part of the world he lives in. We go to great lengths to see that the boys that come to Camp Nis-Kun-Ni experience things they don't do on an everyday basis. We take numerous trips with them. We manage to walk on a glacier, take a dog sled ride, ride mountainous terrain on horseback, fish for salmon and other varieties of Alaskan fish, pick blue berries and salmon berries and make a fresh pie. We also will be exploring an old gold mine, as well as panning for gold! These are just a few of the scheduled activities that we pile into a 14 day stay. Arts & crafts, archery, boating, water-safety, basic first aid and swimming are all included in our activities. Many organized games and other "FUN" stuff can be done here.
Nis-Kun-Ni is an indian phrase meaning "Young boy growing up". We want to see all of our guests grow to become strong, decent, human beings with compassion in their hearts and a mind that is sharp and inquiring.
All boys that register for a 2 week session are sent a T-shirt with our emblem, along with a list of items to bring with them. (jeans, rain gear, etc.). Each person is also sent a list of activities that they will have the chance to partake in, during their 2 week stay with us. We serve 3 full meals per day, along with nutritious snacks. If the boys wish, we do have a general store that they can purchase such things as gum, candy bars, gifts, etc..
Each boy must register prior to the session, as space is limited. There is a $500.00 registration fee (non-refundable) that holds their place. The balance of $3,000.00 must be paid with Cashier's Check or money order within 2 weeks, prior to their arrival. Airfair is NOT included in the cost of the 2 week stay at Nis-Kun-Ni. We will however try to work with any air schedule you have.
Each boy that attends a 2-week session at Camp Nis-Kun-NI will leave, not only with great memories, but they will also take home 1 (one) share of stock in Camp Nis-Kun-Ni. Each participant will be given instruction prior to leaving us, regarding their share of stock. It's value at the time, it's expected increase, etc..
We meet our guests at the Anchorage Internationl Airport, Anchorage, Alaska. We also stay with the boys until they are actually on the plane, when they have to leave us, to head home.
We provide the boys with a healthy atmosphere, clean air, and even the midnight sun! It will be an experience they will tell their grandchildren!
We are very aware of problems that can arise from not having the right people for the right job. Safety and "peace of mind" are our top priority here at Camp Nis-Kun-Ni. Therefore, all applicants that meet the criteria for employment (prior to employment) must submit to a complete (up to 20 years) background check, as well as make themselves available to random alcohol and drug testing while they are employed. We do not allow any tobacco products on the premisis by staff, campers, or volunteers. All employees and staff members are also fingerprinted prior to coming on board with us.
We encourage all parents to contact us immediately, as we have a limited number of boys per camp session. We are currently taking applications for the year 2000 sessions. Sessions begin May 25th, June 11, June 29th, July 16th, August 3rd, and August 20th.
Our invitation to you: "Come as a Stranger - Leave as a Friend" and let us help you to have an EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME!
