Psyco here telling you all you need to know about blood dragon's (if you don't play vampire counts you must leave immedietly or risk joining the growing ranks of the undead). Here are some things to remember when collecting a blood dragon army. Your general should be a count. Why? Because he is almost half the cost, and almost the same when it comes to stats. Screw the Black Coach, take a Banshee as your rare unit, as long as it doesn't get charged by a unit with rank bonuses it will reck havoc on you opponent's forces the entire game (being ethereal and being able to kill a giant in one roll is a nice touch too). Get calvary not only because the blood dragons are vampire knights but also these are one of the few fast moving vampire counts troops and when they charge those wights can pack a wallop. People are always complaining about the lack of artillery. But, by getting a few vampire bats you can wipe out the crews to the enemy artillery and let's face it, what good is artillery without crew?? archers you ask??? charge um and watch um run like girls! AND MOST IMPORTANTLY!! Zombies are the greatest thing since sliced bread. why you ask?? they have below averag WS BS I and average everything else?? i'll tell you why the cause fear, automatically lap around enemy units, are immune to psycology and most importantly they are dirt cheap. 20 for 100 points they sound like goblins. Use necromancers, your vampires in this family aren't very competent magic users but that's ok knowing they are the best hand to hand fighters in the game. Dire wolves are great but not very useful under heavy missile fire, take about eight and give them the doom wolf. Use vampire bats to tie up the artillery and archers and then flank them with the wolves crazy speed . Take a wraith to be a champion for as many unit's as possible. Skeleton's are ok but i just love zombies. spirit hosts and bat swarms are good for tying up enemies for a while but not good at much else.
Here are the different armies and what to do with them
1. High elves, bolt throwers are not cool, take aout their crew and then worrow about the inevitable spearmen who fight in three ranks good chariots watch for them. nasty dragon princes, raise zombies or skeletons right in front of them to stall them while you flank them.
2. Wood elves, archers, lot's of archers, good ones, some riding birds, kill them all quickly with calvary. treemen are no match for a good ol' vampire and wardancers can be killed. it just takes time and lots of zombies.
3. Dark elves, more bolt throwers damn, more spearmen double damn. witch elves can poison you so watch out
4. Dogs of War, What can you expect?
5.Dwarves, more cannons than your vampire bats can handle, damn magical swords making things difficult. there slow little buggers though so use that to you advantage. NO CALVRY
6. Chaos Dwarves, Do they really exist or are they just an old urban legend.
7. Orks and Goblins, they'll run don't worry about it.
8. Bretonia, 4 kinds of knights , stupid hippogriff, stop charges with zombies and slowly beat him into submission with hordes of undead
9. empire, more cannons, lots of infantry but that means nothing, ovewelm them.
10. skaven, they'll run too. they can poison you.
11.lizardmen, good luck. use calvary and just make lots of troops (seeing a pattern yet)
12.realms of chaos, there won't be many of them so use that to you atvantage, watch out for the dragon it can take out your entire army.
Well that's about it and i'll leave you with a couple key points, zombies are worth every point, never underestimat the power of the banshee get your general in the action and your best weapon isn't your hordes of zombies or your kick ass general it's psycology.
