Birth Doula Service

Women choose to share their birth experience with a doula for different reasons. I am honored and excited that you are considering me in your search.
Let me tell you about myself. I am 39 years old. I had my first child at the age of 23, in 1989. Knowing nothing about the birth process I took a "birthing class" offered in my community. While the information was very valuable, the emotional attachment of a "friend" who has been there was missing. Oncwe the time came, I found my mind blank of the things I had leaned, and just wanted someone to HELP me! My husband was distant, because he was so afraid seeing me in so much pain, and not knowing how to help in anyway. The medical staff and doctors came in and out making random checks, but for the most part, I was alone, and terrified.
My next 4 delieveries were similar experiences. So, when I was expecting my 6th child, I decided to take charge, and hire a doula. Unfortunate medical situations came up, which halted my plan to have a doula present, as I ended up with a C section at 36 weeks to deliver my "special" child.
I believe serving others by mothering the mother is my calling. I was blessed to be asked to serve as a lay doula for 5 births to date. They were the most beautiful,experiences for us all.
At this time I am just starting the journy to reach out and serve mothers I haven't had the pleasure to meet previously. Remember, my specialty is in being there to meet the emotional needs of the mother, and help keep her focused.
I encourage you to offer me a list of music which you might feel comfortable listenting to as you labor. I also am interested in what fragrance you prefer in massage oils. Or other things which help you personally to relax.
Remember this is your day, and your experience, and I am just here to help make it as warm, friendly and caring as possible for you.
