PAI LUM DRAGON CODE:
I am what I am because I choose to be. I am a dragon by choice, and subject to its laws. My brothers and sisters are my heart and my mind. Even though we may disagree with each other, we still strive to be ONE. Forgetting all categories, and letting energy which wishes to exist, exist. But as a dragon, I must go forth to seek the tao and the void, understanding myself, and finding peace within.

LUN QUAN PAI HISTORY:
It is important to note This history, according the highest respect to the SiTaiGung, SiGung, Sensei, Sifu’s and Shihan mentioned, should be considered public domain and is true to the best of Founding Member Professor Lamoreux's knowledge as transmitted to him by his teachers. This is a lineage of information that has been passed down thru time and arrived at White Dragon School from a variety of sources. All of it is classical and true to form, and as far as we know no other school offers this exact blend of martial art techniques, and indeed we make no claim to teach any system or style other than that blend derived by the lineage of Mr. Lamoreux from his teachers through years of training. This cirriculum is based heavily on the Pai-Lum/Bok Leen Pai system and has in the past been accepted under a variety of PaiLum masters for rank progression in PaiLum families Mr. Lamoreux had been associated with in the past.. The research for historical perspective was by documentation afforded Professor Lamoreux from his own Pai Lum SiTaiGung, SiGung’s and Sifu’s, along with interviews of teachers, Steven G. Newman-Hanshi, Shihan Carl Long and others. Also, library research of historical treatise such as “This is Karate” by Mas Oyama.
Chinese Kung-Fu/Kenpo Historical Background (by Professor Lamoreux):
Literally translated Kenpo means “Law of the Fist” or “Discipline” or “Fist Way” and may be loosly interpreted as Chinese Fist Way or Chinese boxing skill. When I began learning martial arts Chinese Kenpo was the name given to me as what I was learning and is consequently the term I use. It was explained to me to be a comprehensive term for Chinese Martial Arts. However after examination it becomes apparent that several distinct systems of Chinese Kenpo have existed in history, such as the Northern Okinawan White Lotus Kenpo (Bok Leen Pai), the Chinese Kenpo Eagle system (Chi Ling: which according to our documentation evolved from roots around 600 A.D.), and the very ancient Chinese Kenpo alluded to by Mas Oyama in his documentaries. Indeed, information from first two of the above is part of the curriculum here at White Dragon School. Chinese Kenpo, very similar in nature to Shaolin Kenpo, is a Martial Art based in many Chinese clans and styles, and as such has different definitions depending on the time frame due to cultural changes because of political reasons. Historically, per Masutatsu Oyama’s Treatise “This is Karate" the original Kenpo was non formalized and probably became systematized around 1200 B.C. This art was later influenced by Shaolin but is not exclusively Shaolin temple boxing and may be viewed as Chinese Martial art having roots outside the monastaries, but later influenced and refined by Shaolin priests who had the time and sophistication to improve Chinese boxing methods.
The Northern Okinawan Chinese Kenpo form evolved into a unique blend of Chinese Kenpo and Shaolin five animal styles with a rich heritage of additional technique. Rather than being one specific style or Gar (family or clan art), this Kenpo is a systemized form of martial training which contains a rich variety of styles and techniques with Weapontry, Chin Na, Chi Gung, and meditation. It is important to note that during the time period the systems of Shaolin (or Shorin) and Chinese Kenpo were arriving in Okinawa, either by priests fleeing governmental persecution or Chinese citizens in cultural exchange programs, that martial arts were already in existence there and were being continually refined by Okinawan masters. The Okinawans acted as agents of change in the further developing arts at that time and influenced them by infusing elements of native Okinawan arts. Although so influenced, the monastaries and systems developed independently and so we see the same forms with minor change in many styles. When added to the fact that social casts afforded different levels of training and royal families learning this information created thier own family styles it is easy to see why so many martial systems sharing a common root flourished in Okinawa and consequently the U.S.
Exactly What Styles are taught:
As we know, historically Chinese Kung-Fu/Kenpo involves several distinct styles and techniques. The system rather than adhering to one style, as a consequence of the different pooled knowledge, and considerings its location and it’s infusion by native Okinawan arts involved elements of family styles blended with Shaolin five animal fist by the priests and Okinawans and others from abroad at the monastary. The style is rooted in the soft/hard style martial art and relies on flowing motion and relaxation to accomplish its end.
The Chinese styles at White Dragon School can be categorized into two distinct groups, Northern and Southern. The Northern training forms and sequences can be recognized by the footwork which usually proceeds in straight lines called rows. The southern footwork is more irregular involving different angles. Also taught within the system are a variety of weapons, Chi-Kung excersizes, meditation, and Tai Chi which complete the system. Additionally forms can be seen as entry level, intermediate, higher level and Internal or grand sets which are only taught to the immediate family or students of such character as to be worthy of such information such as those accepted as candidates for instructor. At the Sensei’s discretion the blend of forms in the curriculum may change as his or her vision of the end martial artist is altered or new training innovations are devised. After a student attains the first level of black belt all additional training is made available providing the student wishes to progress further AND DISPLAYS THE CORRECT SIGNATURE OR MORAL ATTRIBUTES.
At the current time the exact styles used at White Dragon School in training students are rooted for a large part in crossovers from the White Dragon Fist (Pai Lum), White Lotus or Bok Leen Pai, additional forms from Tai Mantis (Northern) and others from Professor Lamoreux's formative years at Mr. Rothrocks Shaolin School combined with new material from Grandmaster Wilson and Lau Shr Tao Chi Li's (Headmaster Everett's) Cirriculum. This is further augmented by some of the other styles taught to Professor Lamoreux by Sifus and Masters like GrandMaster Steven Newman, Soke of the Zen Budo Ryu Nihon Karate-Do and Shihan Carl Long of Sakura Martial Arts.
The procedures used in teaching or the methodology of training is for the most part the same method employed by Sifu’s teachers to train in Chinese Kung-Fu, which involve calisthenic excersize, Hatha Yoga, stances, breathing, basics, forms, weapons, self defense, Chin Na, short hand boxing, and Gou Ti. These methods comprise the core of the Chinese Kung-Fu/Kenpo discipline and are likely very similar to the methods used at White Lotus monastary.
How does the System operate to produce the “Martial Artist”?
Much as a sculpture takes a piece of clay and gently alters it’s form to produce a statue, the system of Chinese Kenpo is an integrated training that has many facets geared to changing the person entered in the training, both physically and mentally. Over many years, in small ways through the training the person is altered to be stronger, and faster. He or She will become more flexable and have improved coordination. They will not tire as easily due to improved circulation and enhanced lung capacity. Though the muscles become more flexable they also get much stronger. As a result of the movements and training in the system, the connective and protective tissues in the body will become stronger, so the body can withstand more. Over time the parts of the body which we will call the natural weapons are conditioned to be able to do the job for which they are being trained. reflexive actions are conditioned thru controlled and deliberatly uncontrolled circumstances. Senses of range and distances are improved and the students understanding of motion changes as they become more efficient. At the same time the body of the student is being altered, the mind is being influenced on the subconsious level thru the forms and by the proponent of the system. The mind of the student is trained to act not only from a reflexive standpoint, but also a rational moral one. In effect, This rebuilding of the person in training is a function of following the drills and rules of the system of training, and is not learned (rationally comprehended and put into effect by the student), but is rather taught by the system thru the medium of a competent Sifu/Sensei. Acting with professional judgement, the Sifu/Sensei or instructor will guide the students thru the system making rational decisions from a standpoint of knowledge with regards to the individual students differences.
From the students standpoint they will not see immediate change but will understand only after some length of time is spent in the training. After some time they will see and feel changes within themselves and will understand the rational only after the changes have actually taken place. At the highest levels of training a Satori is achieved when the forms and techniques are so woven into the psyche of the student that he or she uses all the movement as consequence of thought without worrying about underlying technique. At this point the Level of “ART” is reached, wherein the spirit of the MARTIAL ARTIST is reflected in the techniques designated by the mind and will of that person, based on a solidly trained underlying physical/technical skill. The Mind, Body and Spirit are one with the Kung-Fu/Kenpo.
