Scars are a sign of healing
Leroy Hicks 4/15/02
Scars are a sign of healing. For instance when we see a scare on someone, we know that in there past there was a wound of some kind, and that the scar is the outcome of that wound. But an open wound isn’t healed yet and there is still a problem there. The wound needs to be healed it needs that scar to show that is it healed. Do we have open wounds in our hearts that needs the scar of healing? I have heard many people talk about healing the scars of life well to me you can’t heal a scar a scar is the out come of something that needed healing if there is no scar then there is still a wound there so if there is still a wound there, there is still a problem. So a scar is sign of something already healed. A scar shows that once there was a wound there. Have we been wounded by life’s out come or by a friend or loved one? If we have then we need those healing scars to close that wound. When we have been wounded in life, we sometimes keep iterating that wound.
How you may ask?
We keep iterating the wound, by walking in our past.
We iterate it by, something that a person has said or done.
We iterate it by not walking in love.
We iterate it by unforgiveness,
This list could go on and on, but I am sure you get my meaning how we can keep a wound from getting healed. Well how much more do we need God’s word to heal us of these open wounds. Yes some of us do have battle scars, but to me a scar is a sign of being healed, not of needing healed.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
You see Jesus had His battle scars, He had His wounds, He had His bruises, and He had his strips. Yes, He had many scars on His body. But does He look at His scars as something needing healing? No!
He looks at them as ALREADY HEALED. So if we have open wounds in our lives lets stop iterating them, let Jesus heal them. Yes the scars of life will always be there. But lets not pick at them and cause them to be wounds once again. Lets look at them as there use to be something wrong.
Remember that Jesus took all this to the cross and by His Scars we are healed.
