August Catalog AdsSpring Doggie Fling
Our Seventh Annual Spring Doggie Fling will be held Tuesday, May 20th at Woodbine Lodge in Riverview Park, off Niles Road, just north of Exit 27 of I-94. This meeting features our dogs, fun & fellowship and a potluck, with some really good eating. The best part is it’s FREE. All you have to do is bring a dish to pass……either a vegetable dish, a salad or a dessert.
We will again be featuring the same BBQ that everyone enjoyed last year. From the BBQ pits of Charlie’s Piggin’ ‘N Grinnin’ Award Winnin’ BBQ, we will provide chicken, ribs and for those who enjoy GREAT BBQ sandwiches we will also have BBQ pulled pork and plenty of their GREAT sauce.
All you need to bring with you is your appetite, your dog(s) and a dish to pass. For those that have the time, we encourage (BUT not require) that you to make your dish to pass a salad or veggie dish. At times in the past, we’ve had lots of deserts (not that it’s bad) and not many of the other kinds. Regardless, we always have a wonderful potluck.
We provide plates, eating utensils, cups, pop, water, ice, and the GREAT BBQ.
To accommodate those who are working, we will again schedule the event at little later. Socializing begins at 5:30 pm and we’ll plan on eating at 6:45, followed by a brief membership meeting at 7:15. We understand that there will be some people who will host GAME TIME and Connie Peterson will supply doggie gifts for all (of the dogs).
Reservations are NOT required. So just bring yourself, your dog, your dish to pass and a friend that may have an interest becoming a member of BKC. This is a great time to invite a friend and their dog to join in the festivities.
Nominating Committee President Margaret Russell appointed Regina Hess as Chairperson of this year’s Nominating Committee. Joining Regina on the committee are Julia Duschek and Kim Keith. BIG Birthday
Earlier this year, Erin Keith, a senior at Coloma High School, celebrated her 18th birthday. That’s a BIG DEAL in any young person’s life. Erin, who has been a Junior Member of BKC since 2000, has now achieved another level of participation with purebred dogs, especially Shelties, by now becoming a full member on our Berrien Kennel Club.
If you remember the story about Erin that appeared in our newsletter last September, you’ll remember that Erin has been competing at the Youth Fair since she was 5 years old and last year won about everything she could, including Showmanship for 16-20-year-olds, the Dog Junior Showmanship Grand Championship trophy and the Small Animal Showmanship Sweepstakes trophy.
Congratulations Erin for your birthday, your pending graduation, all you’ve accomplishment working with your Shelties and your contributions to BKC.
