£125 RAISED FOR THE BBC’s CHILDREN IN NEED APPEAL

On Monday 14 November 2005, members of the ‘Belly Dancing Classes with Elaine’ group held a charity event in aid of Children in Need at New Eltham Library.
The evening started off with a Belly Dancing class, with participants learning a fun choreography to ‘Walk Like an Egyptian’- an Arabic style version of the 80’s pop song by the Bangles. All those taking part had dressed up in traditional Middle Eastern dance costumes or other sparkly attire.
After the class some of the group performed Walk Like an Egyptian for the rest of the group. Carla Ardimento followed, dancing to Opa Eshta, then Elaine danced to an Egyptian pop number. Carla and Elaine then improvised a drum solo duet, inviting the whole gorup to join in as a finale.

There was a raffle with several lovely prizes including some free belly dancing classes and a complementary AquaDetox treatment which was kindly donated by Carla Ardimento.

To round off the evening everyone took to the dance floor, for freestyle dancing, to some lively Arabic pop songs.

The event was a great success, everyone one had such fun and a total of £125 was raised for the BBC’s Children in Need Appeal.

Thank you, everyone, for being so generous with your donations.
