Belladonna Papillons

Updated January 30th 2012

Thank you for stopping in and visiting my website. I hope that you enjoy your visit! I want to first clarify what Belladonna means. "Beautiful Lady". I know there are many other meaning's, however I like to think of this meaning when referring to my lovely Papillons.

(Please take a moment to read the information on this page and also on my gallery page "available puppies or adults) , it may answer most of your questions about me and my papillons. If you have any further questions, I would be more than happy to answer them for you. If you need more information and photos, please contact Kerri @ finchgardens@juno.com or call me at 503-761-2371. Phone calls are always welcome.

I have been owned by Papillons since I was a young child, so I am not new to the breed, but have only been breeding Papillons for a few years. I am very passionate about them and what I am doing. So I searched high and low to find quality Papillons from breeders who would trust me with their lines and to do right by the breed. So most of my dogs are champion sired and many of them come from some very well established and reliable lines as well as top champion dogs from around the world. I have dogs in my lines like Kirby "Loteki Supernatural Being, he is the male that won the 1999 Westminster dog show and his son Cadaga Civil Action call name Nemo who is also another famous dog as well as many others too. I also have imports from Canada and Germany too.

I have a love for beauty with intelligence, which has brought me to the decision to breed Papillons. However I am also a responsible breeder who takes breeding seriously. So I strive to produce genetically sound, intelligent and healthy pups with outgoing personalities which is what has draw us to them in the first place. So my goal is to produce beautiful representations of this charming butterfly dog. But I also place equal value on breeding only dogs that have excellent genetic health and sound temperaments along with conformation for AKC standards.

The Papillon is a happy outgoing elegant toy dog. They are intelligent with a quick mind making them one of the highest scoring and highest ranking titled breeds in obedience and other AKC sports. Their beauty and grace turns heads every where they go. They truly are a elegant dog and a show stopper.

The Papillon coat is silky in appearance with a resilient quality that sheds dirt quickly with the touch of a brush. They do not have a undercoat and minimal trimming is required . They are often called "wash and wear" dogs. Papillons do not have a doggie order and shedding is minimal and easy to control.

All my adult dogs are vet checked for patella's and hearts annually, plus they are CERF tested. As said, I want to make sure I produce healthy, happy Papillon puppies. So no matter if you are a show or pet fancier, I want to make sure you get a healthy, happy papillon. Also since the health and well being of my dogs is my main concern, I do not breed my girls with every heat. My dogs are my treasured pets and not just breeding stock as with some breeders. All my dogs are kept in peak condition and the best of health with proper diet, exercise, regular scheduled veterinary care, and of course plenty of love and attention.

Breeding dogs starts first with happy and healthy parents . So with that said, many of my puppies also make great performance dogs as well. Or if you are just looking for a sweet loveable puppy to hold and adore as a pet, I do my best to match the right puppy to what you are wanting. So if you are interested in a show, performance or pet Papillon or want to be placed on my list for my next litter, be sure to let me know what you are looking for.

When inquiring for show/breeding, I take each person on a case by case basis. So if you are looking for a show puppy, I am willing to work with people. Also I may not have time to always update with puppy pictures, so e-mail me and I will be happy to send updated pictures of the puppies and their parents. Again please be sure to tell me more about you, your home life, do you have pets or young children and if you want a puppy for show, performance or for a pet.

All my dogs are well cared for and socialized so they love everyone. My dogs are NOT raised in kennels and are very much part of the family. Since I never had human children, my husband and I consider our papillons as our children. We love and nurture our precious babies from the time they are whelped, so they are handled and played with daily to ensure they are well socialized and out going when they leave from my home to yours.

Sometimes I have older dogs that need loving homes too, sadly I have to place some of my retired dogs into pet homes to make room for the new young hopefuls. I feel each dog needs lots of time, attention and love, so I do not keep more dogs than what we can properly care for, train and love on a daily basis. I screen every person carefully to make sure that my dogs will be the perfect fit for you as well as for my papillons too.

I encourage people to take the time to read my guest book of testimonials from other puppy buyers and what they said about me and my papillon puppies. Feel free to sign my guest book if you would like to add your own comments, I would love to hear from you. However I recommend if you are inquiring about a Papillon puppy from me, please send a e-mail or call because I do not read my quest book very often.

Also take a moment and check out my gallery of past puppies and small pack of Papillons and what I might have available. Just click onto each picture and more photos and information will come up under that picture. I try to update as time allows. So keep checking back for new pictures, show news or litter announcements. PLEASE NOTE: I do not own or have all the dogs on my gallery page, that is just to share some of my past puppies and retired dogs who have been placed into their forever homes.

Please do not send a one or two line inquiries, I think it is very important as a breeder to make sure I place my puppies in the best homes based on each individual puppy. So be prepaired to answer some questions. Equally I would think anyone interested in making a commitment to buy a papillon puppy would also want to know more about me, my dogs and my breeding program, which I am very happy to answer all your questions and hopefully many of them will be answered on this page. It is just as important to find the right breeder as it is for me to find the right home for my puppies.

(NO puppies will be sold to puppy mills, brokers, pet stores or just anyone with cash). I want to make sure my puppies go to homes where they will be part of the family, loved and well cared for. I would be happy to talk to you to determine if I have the right Papillon puppy or adult for you or put you on my waiting list for the right puppy.

If I do not have anything now, you are welcome to check in with me and I can fill you in on the details of any planned litters and place you on my waiting list. I am anticipating some nice litters for 2012 with puppies promising for the show ring and of coarse in every litter there usually is at least one to two pet puppies to offer as well. I sometimes offer male puppies promising for the show into pet homes because I can not keep them all. So do not hesitate to contact me.

All of my puppies are raised in my home. They are whelped in my bedroom and as said, handled daily. When they are about five weeks old, they are moved to the kitchen which is a more active place in my home. This is so they are exposed to various sounds, places, people, and of course other dogs. Most of my puppies are paper trained before leaving my home as well. Both my husband and I are pleased with how happy and well socialized our papillon puppies are when they leave to go to their new families.

I have all the puppies evaluated at 8 weeks for show potentials. But even if you are interested in showing/breeding I require that my puppies be part of the family and live within the home. I am a responsible breeder so I only sell pet quality puppies with limited registration on a spay/neuter contracts. Pet quality can be for many different reasons, they could be mismarked, not have the correct attitude for the show ring, too big or too small etc. However with that being said, many of the pet puppies make great performance dogs too.

When I place a puppy I want the new family to be in love with their choice of a papillon. Even more importantly is that my puppy be happy with his/her new family. I believe once you have been owned by a papillon, you will fall in love with their charming personalities and find they are a very addicting breed!

I breed for Quality Papillons NOT Quantity. I take pride in what I am doing to raise beautiful Papillons that will represent the breed for their beauty, brains and temperament as well as for the conformation ring. The price of my pet puppies with limited AKC varies from the ones with full AKC. The range is also based on the puppy and the bloodlines. However with that being said, my Papillons are reasonably priced based on the quality of my dogs, the health tests done on the parents and so forth that it takes to raise these beautiful little butterfly dogs and do it right. All my puppies come with a written health guarantee. Retired dogs are priced based on the age and the individual dog too. For more information on any puppy or adult I have on my gallery page, please call or e-mail Kerri.

I provide health records and recommendations for grooming and feeding, plus I offer life time puppy support so I am always available for questions. I encourage my puppy buyers to send updates and pictures, because I love to follow the development of my precious babies. Again, because this is my passion and a hobby, I DO NOT always have puppies available, but I would be happy to put you on my waiting list if I do not have what you are looking for now!

Sincerely, Kerri at Belladonna Papillons 503-761-2371
