Down with the BCS
The BCS is the biggest pile of crap college football has ever seen. I have not found any positive points from the system except for one. MONEY!!! The only reason we'll never see a playoff in D-1 football is because the guys in charge of the game don't worry about keeping the game fair or preserving the heritage of college ball... they just want to fill their greedy little pockets.
Thats a bunch of bull crap. Obviously the fairest and easiest way to find a champion (A champion is the best at what they do, not how many points they get for beating some tiny school because they ran up the scoreboard) would be to take the top 16 teams in the Coaches poll and make that a playoff. I see no simpler solution.
Don't get me wrong, I grew up watching the bowl games over the holidays. It had its own heritage. But since the glory days things have gone cheap on us. Bowl games were reserved for the best teams in College. Now, if you have better than a .500 record, you're going. If I was on a team that was 6-5 and was invited to a bowl game, I would have declined the offer saying "Thank you but we don't deserve to play here." Another thing is that same team would be asked to play in some stupid frickin "Commercial Bowl" I know all bowls are sponsored but the BCS bowls are the oldest and most prestigious in the game. Compared to them, who would want to go to the .com bowl? That is a slap to my face and my teams. These bowl sponsors are asking these teams to come and advertise for their company.
