I have been trying to find out about my father for several years. He left my mom when I was two years old. I know he was from Tn. and played the guitar very well. His name was Arthur Graydon Taylor aka Jack Taylor aka A.G.Taylor. I have since found lady who I believe is my half sister who is seven years younger then I. My mom and dad were married in 1936 in Riggins Idaho. He was last seen by a member of my family in McCall Idaho in 1938. I have been told he wanted to move us to a remote area and that is why they seperated. I know he worked at the Golden Anchor mine near Burgdroff Idaho a remote town east and north of McCall. Also was told he ran a boat on McCall lake. I know he at one time worked for the forest service. He may of been with a group who played music. I believe he had a sister named Maxine. My full sister is named after her. To the left of this article is a picture of Jack Taylor taken some time in the middle 1930s. If anyone out there knew this man any time then or afterward please let me know. I want to know what happened to him do I have other brothers and sisters that I don't know? This picture was taken at White Bird Idaho where I grew up. I beleve it was taken at the south end of White Bird. A few years ago while surfing the net I came across a lady who discribed her father who she also never knew. It was so close to the discripation of Jack Taylor I contacted her and Pat Twohig of Corona CA. has since came up here and we have gone to Idaho to seek information on our father. We followed the wrong trail for a while but now back on the right one. It is such a cold trail that at times seems that we will never find out anything. We are going to McCall in June to see what we can find out there and on up to Burgdroff near the Golden Anchor mine where he worked. We hope to find the car that a 1937 newspaper report stated he left up there when he got stuck trying to get into the mine. They say he never went back for the car. I have found out he may of been born in 1906 to Daniel and Effie Taylor and his name may of been Gradon Taylor. Go to a ancestor site and type in Daniel G. Taylor. Gradon was born in Dyer co. Tn. His mother died in Feb. of 1913 and his father in 1922 so he lost both parents at a very young age. Maxine was raised by family members. I haven't found out yet to much about him. One sister died before his mother so his only sibling was Maxine. I know he thought a lot of her and that is why Maxine was named after her. If anyone other then the people who I have talked to know Maxine please let me know. I know she married a Finley in or around Dyer Co. TN. and she passed away in 1978. Have contacted a son-in-law. He is sending me some family history but doesn't have much on Gradon Taylor. I have found that after my grandmother Effie died in Feburary of 1913 and the census of January of 1920 my grandfather Dan married a woman by the first name of Irene and moved to Cross county Arkansas. His son Graydon was living with them at that time. He was listed as thirteen years old and listed as four in the 1910 census making his birthday somewhere between Jan. and April. This narrows down the search some. Please feel free to go to my guest book and sign it, would really like for all the Taylor relatives that I have found to sign it. More information I have found he has a half brother in AZ named Dan E. Taylor. More information, Daniel must of married again between 1920 and 1923 when he died, he may of married a Dorothy Carter and had a daughter Althea. If anyone knows of these people please let me know. I should add that the Keith Taylor is guess work as well as Graydon Taylor being in CA. I hope that Pat is my sister but that is not been proved. I don't want wrong guess's taking me down the wrong path/ If some one out there saw him else where in the years 1940 on and are thinking it is not Graydon because of my thinking he was in CA please disreguard anything but the part up to August of 1938. That I know anything beyond those years is guess work. I will stick only with the facts that I know. More information, the Taylor family in TN. last heard from my father in the year 1939, I have began to think that something must of happened to him shortly after that or he would of kept in touch with the family he loved in TN. People who knew my father have told me often that had my father been around or able he would of kept in touch with my sister (Maxine Coral Taylor Burkenbine)and I.. My sister lives in Seabeck WA. We have always kept in touch with people in White Bird and still have family in Grangeville. Please sign my guest book when you have read this also let me know if you know of this man.
