Since launching Roaring 40s I've tried to figure out what it is people need. I've attempted to prioritise (wonderful word that!) "prioritise" the reasons why people attend singles' functions. The reasons would differ from person to person but first and foremost, at the top of most people's list would be - to meet someone special. Other things like the music, dancing, food, company, sex!!! and anything to get out of the house! are all important but I'm convinced that - To meet someone special is top of the list for most people.
So it occurred to me - if I could come up with a way to introduce compatible people to each other, a way that is non-embarrassing, good fun, affordable and effective, I'd be onto a winner. Well, I think I've come up with such an idea. It's different from anything that anyone else is doing. More relaxed than speed-dating, more reliable than blind dating, altogether less intimi-dating! - sorry, couldn't resist that. Less risky than phone or internet dating, more exciting than a house party and more exhilarating than a day in court. And far more affordable than a dating agency.
So what is it? I call it Beggars Banquets. There isn't space here to tell you everything about it, come along one Wednesday night and experience Beggars Banquets for yourself. Bring friends! Also, bring your favourite dance track on CD. Do you fancy yourself as a stand-up comic? Well then, bring a couple of jokes along. Does this give you a clue? Roaring 40s with Beggars Banquets will be an interactive social club. Your input is at least as important as mine. This is how you'll really get to know people. AND it'll be a lot of fun!
The night will cost you $20 which includes the scrumptious banquet. Now here comes the difficult part. Who - or is it whom - do I target? What age group? There are people at either end of the age spectrum who could benefit from this. But I feel it would be a mistake to try and be all things to all people. So I'm going to target the 30s to 59 age group. If you're younger or older you're welcome to attend but don't beat me up if the humour's a bit too risque for you or if techno gets the biffo.
OK, that's enough info to be getting on with. Please phone me on Saturday on 0412 126 040 any Saturday I'll be here in person - whoopy doo - to answer your queries and to give you the address. Get behind this idea, give it a chance. It's different and it could work well for you.
