The story you are about to read is true, and its emotional and heartbreaking content are the subject of a book written by David Travers. It is a story of a series of mistakes by a hospital, it's Neo-Natal Intensive Care Doctor, and it's staff that started the day Aubrey was born and culminated on the day of her death. Being extremely graphic in content, this book is not reccommended for those who cannot handle adult themes or content. The exact excerpts of "Tears In Heaven-Aubreys Story!" is even too graphic in nature to place on this website.
Aubrey's story starts out as a typical couple in a midwestern city awaiting the birth of their second child. As events unfolded back in 2000, Aubrey was almost three months pre-mature & weighed just a mere 1 lb., 14 1/2oz when she was born. On the 20th day, she developed a deadly infection known as NAC from her feeding tube & passed away the next afternoon. The events following her birth & death & the mistakes that were made then are painstakingly documented in the book written by Aubrey's father, Dave Travers.
Trying to find a publisher has been a real nightmare, especially one who can relate to what we have been through as a family and what we will continue to face in the years ahead. To lose a child the way we lost ours, there are no words for. The agony of having your child's life support shut off and holding her as she slowly slips away is something no parent should ever have to go through. The loss we feel is immeasurable &, at times, overwhelming. Had proper procedure been followed from day one, Aubrey would probably still be with us. To allow someone to play God with my child's life is the one thing I'll never forgive myself for letting happen.
"Aubrey's Tour" is dedicated to the loving memory of my daughter. Either to contribute to "Aubreys Tour" or to help defray the costs of getting the book published, please send a cashier's check or money order(no cash) to: Dave Travers, 918 Greenwich Rd, Lafayette, IN 47905, & please specify to which you are contributing - "Aubreys Tour" or "Tears In Heaven-Aubrey's Story!". All proceeds will be used and documented for the purpose for which they were intended. I will set up a special area on this web site that will show all incoming monies and to how they were used. No donation is too large or too small! Thank you for your contribution and for making 2004, "Aubreys Tour" & "Tears In Heaven-Aubreys Story!", a success. Without your contribution this would not be possible.

A normal person would think something like that could never happen to him.....I used to think that, too, this kind of stuff only happened to other people and not to me. How wrong I was! I just cannot imagine anyone else going through the emotional strain we were dealt, let alone the types of mistakes and mishandlings done by a hospital that we trusted with the care of our infant child. If you think for a moment that a single one of you isn't vulnerable or that this really couldn't happen to you or your family, you'd better wake up and face reality before it is too late! I would have given anything to have saved my daughter's life, but now it is too late. All I can do is try to educate and forewarn expecting parents of things that might happen that could shatter their lives forever.
If I can find a publisher soon I will announce it on this web-site and post it for all to view. Thank you for taking time to look over this webpage. -Dave
