Ancient India
The Indis River begins in Tibet. As it reaches the Indis plain, it becomes more powerful because it is flowing downstream. The river affected people long, long ago. This is because it could destroy their homes and other important things with floods. The Hindu-Kush mountains separate the Indian subcontinent from the rest of Asia. Farmers used irrigation canals to control these floods. India's farmers domisticated cattle for food and clothing. Indis farmers protected their crops by using irrigation. Agriculture was neccessary because it grew food for them and the animals. Mohenjo-Daro's population is 40,000. Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro are civilizations of Ancient India. Harappa had a very powerful government because they had the same size bricks (all the bricks were the same size), a sewer system, a bath house, and much more well-planned buildings. Religion was important in Mohenjo-Daro because the great bath was for ritual cleansing. Specialized jobs in Harappa were craftworking, blacksmithing, weavers, and lots of other important careers. Harappa merchants traded things like lapis lizuli - which was traded from Afghanistan. Some of the people that were living in early India were called Aryans (IHRAHNZ). Aryans were originally from central Asia.
Hinduism
Hinduism is the world's oldest religion. They believe that one force connects everything. They had caste systems in the religion. The purpose of the caste system is organizing society. Castes organize people by their occupation (job). A Hindu's job is decided by the parent's occupation. To determin what is right and wrong, the Hindus use the Dharma. (DAHRMUH) If you break your Dharma, you get thrown out and become and outcastes - with your descendants. The Hinduism society believed that outcastes were impure and untouchable. If you touched an outcaste, you would have to have a ritual cleansing. Different forms of Hinduism developed because people seeked truth in different ways. Hindu priests reacted by accepting the differences. Some of the Gods and Godesses most worshiped Devi, Shiva, and Vishnu. The major change of Hinduism is you used to be able to mistreat outcastes. Today, you can't.
Buddhism
The Buddha began life as a Prince. He became a monk and that changed his future and life. You would probably predict that Siddhartha (the Buddha) would give up his royalty as being a Prince because he found out that illness, becoming old, and death is part of life. He made a more hopeful discovery in his life other than royalty. He saw a man that had peace with the world. He liked the way the man acted, so Siddhartha became a monk. He found out that by ending suffering, he could find peace. He believed in the four Noble Truths - 1.Life is filled with suffering. 2.Suffering is caused by wants. 3.If you stop wanting then you will stop sufferinging. 4.Stop wanting things to begin following the eight basic rules.
The eight basic rules are also known as the eight fold path - or the Middle Way. The eight basic rules are unknown to us at this time. Sorry.
Egyptian Boats
Egyptian boat models were placed in Tombs. Egyptians believed they would be put to good use in the afterlife. Some boats built today are similar in looks to the boats composed in Ancient Egypt - made of papyrus. Other boats that are being constructed today are not very much different than the boats used by the Egyptians on the Nile thousands of thousands of years ago. Historical researchers believe that Egyptians originated the sail - used on the "sail"boat. Most ships and/or boats used a diesel engine to sail on the Nile. Travel on the Nile was very important to the Egyptians. Their written hygroglyphics had a sign which was a boat with sails - which means "to travel south".
King Tutankhamen
King Tut (short for Tutankhamen), had a huge tomb. Some of the rooms were the Front Hall, the Burial Chamber, and the Treasure. When you walked in the entrance, you would first arrive in the Front Hall. Look around a little bit and you will see some of his possessions. Turn to the right and enter the Burial Chamber. Here you would normally find King Tut's coffin, buried under four extremely thick walls, or layers. Look to the right for a passage-way that leads downward. You will then discover the treasury. The treasure holds King Tut's valuables. King Tutankhamen became king at age eight or nine. He then died sometime between the ages of eighteen and nineteen. Today, he is best-known for his amazing tomb.
Loess
Loess is a dusty, yellow soil that is laid down by wind. It has been can be a wonderful gift to China’s farmers. It helps the farmers because it is rock less and very fertile. But, it is also a spell, cast on the farmers. It is a curse because it is very easily carried away by the wind. When this event occurs, the farmers are left with poor, dry soil.
In summertime, large quantities are swept into the Huang (HWAHNG). When that floods, the north China plains become covered in large amounts of silt, which creates a one-of-a-kind original landscape.

The Iceman
From the body of one man and a few of his belongings, archaeologists have learned SO much about what life was like in the Alps. The Iceman lived about 5,000 years ago. The people that lived when the Iceman did are considered experts at interacting with the environment. When found, archaeologists discovered and ax, some leggings, shoes, a net, a bow and arrows, a cape, a coat that the Iceman wore, and a knife held in a leather carrying case. The Iceman is a spectacular discovery for archaeologists.
