Life as a Soldiers Wife
Lets see where to start for one I am a wife and a mother of 3 kids ages 10,9,3 . Being a wife of a soldier is not all easy . The toughest job to have is to be a soldiers wife. They are on call 24/7 and at times they are on alerts to where you have to ask to even go on a drive more than a hour away from base.Your entire life gets dictated by you superiors. When my husband was a enlisted soldiered it seemed easier now he is a Officer it seems more demading and you are on your p's and q's . They expect you to dress a different way even when in civilian clothes . Suppose to better than the others. Which that I do not buy . When my husband was enlisted he was a tee shirt, sweat pants kind of guy once he made officer the guys picked on him and said no you are now to wear Khakis and dress shirts you are to be set apart. Well here we go shopping and he gets clothes well also I grab him a few pair of lose fitting jeans and now he is accepted more as a officer. But he still says he did not change lol . Well most officer wifes try to wear there husbands rank not me I am me and they do not like it oh well. That is a big reason I never participate in FRG groups they all act like they are better than everyone else and they all broke because they are trying to keep up with the Jones motto. They all ran out and got new cars and etc. We went out and bought a old 1987 BMW hey it runs great and gets us from point A to point B and back. And hey that leaves us extra money to play with each month and allows our kids to have what they need in life and want . My kids are well behaved and well mannered most military kids are the target name military Brats because there parents are to busy keeping up with the Jones they have no time to teach there kids respect. We go to alot of military Balls now and do not dare wear the same ball dress to the next ball omg you will be the talk of the place. But hey I am not gonna buy a 600 dollar dress and wear it once. That is a waste.
I raised in a dirt poor family I can remember as a child us eating bread and water and having jelly for the bread for meals because my family was so poor Both parents worked and raised 6 kids. And back then you could not just sign of for welfare it is not like today you go in and say you poor you get it. Back then you had to buy your own food stamps and things like that . So I believe this is one reason I am humble of what we have and not high maintnance.
My husband was raised in almost the same thing but he lived in a 2 bedroom mobile home with both parents and a uncle and 2 other siblings. And they had what they needed nothing extra . So that is why I think he is satisfied with what he has.
When we got together he was broke all the time he moved in with me and my 2 kids after meeting on the net. After a while we bought a home and resided in the country for several years until he got stationed in Alabama the Germnay which is where we are now.
For all these women who say ohhhhh I want me a soldier why? Alot say oh they have the money ok lets see where it is it is maxed on alot of credit cards, new cars and top of the line electronics. They basically have credit. They are gone alot and I mean alot mine is now in Afganistan for a little over a year. So you better be independent and not a needy woman and a faithful one to be able to make it work you gotta be strong and able to handle anything throwed our way . From making sure all bills are paid to blowing off rumours of hubby cheating on you. And believe me if you are new to the area people will get all in your business. For some reason they believe it is there business. Never undertood that .
I married my man because I knew he had a steady job and I was not gonna be left supporting him and him not work, Because i knew I could trust him and he loves kids. He is devoted, caring, loving, and a all around great guy. Well if you wanna chat sometimes on anything that you may be going through shoot me a email and I will reply and help you if I can.
