      The art of accurate prediction of nature of events as well as their timing, applying the well-tested canons of Jyotisha Sastra or the sublime science of stellar astrology, hinges not only around the erudite knowledge and ability of the practicing scholar but also the accuracy of the horoscope from which the reading sprang. An horoscope, truly speaking, is a symbolic representation of the heavens at any determined moment, date, month, year and place fixed by longitude and latitude on Earth’s surface. Such a figure framed for an individual’s time of birth furnishes details of all events to be undergone in the course of his life span.
      The two main tools constantly needed by scholars and students for precise map construction are (1) a very accurately computed Tables of Houses for various latitudes and (2) an accurate ephemeris or panchang as the term is known in India for the year of birth, listing day to day places of all the celestial bodies in the solar system as now known. It may be remarked, at this juncture, that it was surprisingly revealing to find almost all the horoscopes in the possession of old and even new persons prepared haphazardly and in an unworthy manner. By way of bridging the gap of reliable guidebooks and rendering the much needed assistance to all readers in the task of proper making of horoscopes, the publisher of this volume had already brought out best books desired by everyone, namely the Universal Tables of Houses for latitudes from 0° to 66°30' not only to the degree of arc but even to the nearest minute and Ephemerides fro sets of ten years for all the years upto and including 2010 AD and carrying the daily places of all the planets including the trans-saturnine ones. These publications are among the best and highly reliable works of their kind available and are consequently commended for use. For obvious reasons, condensed ephemeredes which give the planetary positions for a week or an interval of 4 days or so hardly serve the precise work demanded of accurate map construction.
