      Why this book has been written needs some explaining.
      In the year 2000, the University Grants Commission (UCG) introduced astrology or Jyotish Vigyan as a subject of study in Indian universities. It was opposed by some people who call themselves scientists, leftists and communist politicians. Two cases were filed against it, one in Madras High Court and the other in Andhra Pradesh High Court, both of which were dismissed. The petitioner from Andhra Pradesh appealed to the Supreme Court of India and the case was admitted for hearing on merit in 2003. Now let us see what the author says further:
      I intervened, as a petitioner in person, in the case in the highest court of India. I was the only astrologer to do so while other astrologers who promised to file their petitions kept me in dark and neither came to the court to hear it at admission stage not later on merits. I got my chance to argue and did it effectively. Hearing me speak, the then Additional Solicitor General of India, Mr. Rawal, told me that we would win the case. The judgement came out on 5th My 2004 dismissing the case of the petitioner and we, the astrologers won our biggest battle, and I was the only astrologer fighting the battle in spite of my bad health.
      And I decided to write a book on the subject, showing among other facts how astrology has been an integral part of the composite culture of India and evidences of astrological predictions made in advance.
