A new website was launched in London to remember the outstanding broadcaster Vernon Corea.
Vernon was an Ethnic Minorities Adviser to the British Broadcasting Corporation in the 1970s and 1980s. He also presented the popular 'London Sounds Eastern' on BBC Radio London 206, the radio program was produced by Keith Yeomans.
Vernon hailed from Sri Lanka, he joined Radio Ceylon as a relief announcer in 1956. He left the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation as Director News in 1975.
After a brief spell in Christian Radio with Radio Worldwide in Upper Norwood, London, Vernon Corea joined the BBC continuing his pioneering work and training broadcasters from the ethnic minorities in the United Kingdom.
