Armidale and District Historical Society
The Armidale and District Historical Society was formed in 1959, and aims to promote knowledge and interest in local history, including the New England area and especially Armidale, NSW, Australia.
Meetings are currently held at 7.30 pm on the third Tuesday of each month, February to October, usually with a guest speaker on a topic of interest.
An excursion is held in November.
Our usual meeting place is Kent House, 141 Faulkner Street (opposite Central Park), Armidale. Occasionally, we meet elsewhere, and so it is advisable to check this out with our Secretary or Contact person.
Visitors are always welcome to attend our meetings.
A Journal is published annually and contains the text of many of the talks given during the previous year, together with other articles and book reviews.
Other Society publications include New England Lives, and New England Lives II, Guide to the Journal Contents Volumes 1 to 45, Hillgrove: a photographic study and two postcard sets of historical photographs.
Copies of all Journals from Volume 1 are available for purchase.
Membership is open to all, and entitles the member to receive the Journal, and newsletters which are posted out before each meeting. The membership fee is $30 and is due at the annual meeting in April. If the Journal has to be posted, please add an extra $5.
